GUTS is a month old, how do you feel about it?

Some of the takes in here :biblio:

First of all I don’t get this obsession with Pretty Isn’t Pretty… she’s a cute girl but she’s got nothing on All American ***** or Ballad Of A Homeschooled Girl.

Second, it’s DEFINITELY a better album than Sour in my opinion.. Sour is good but it had a tendency to drag on, songs were starting to blend into each other (especially in the middle of the album)

I love it. I listened to at least these songs every day: All American *****, BIR?, GHB and The Grudge

Don't love it, don't hate it. I listened to it once or twice just like I did with SOUR. She's not my cup of tea.

it’s uneventful if i’m being honest, but it’s a way better album than SOUR. it’s obvious some of y’all are just after her success because there’s no way someone would think this is not a better project as a whole. :giraffe:

I think it's a good album, it's just not for me. I'm not a fan of the punkish pop-rock sound. I only listen to Making The Bed. I prefer SOUR.

It was good, but I still prefer 'SOUR'. :gaycat6:

But how is it uneventful? She's doing plenty of promo. BBC Live Lounge, exclusive one off show, tour tickets have been selling really well from what I've seen online. I think it just feels uneventful because the album hasn't had a smash single since Vampire. But that doesn't mean things aren't happening :michael:

I think the album is a huge improvement from SOUR songwriting wise. I still listen to making the bed a lot since I added it to my playlist.

I haven't played the album in full since release day though, and haven't listened to anything other than making the bed and logical since release week. Better than SOUR, but still forgettable imo.

Songs all sound the same :michael:

Is better than Sour but i hope she evolves next time. if she doesnt her downfall will start. Time for her to move to POP

upgrade from sour and she has improved a lot, not even a bad song on it tbh, but because it's not having the same level of smashery as sour the success stans on atrl won't acknowledge that

someone had to say it :gaycat5:

and i don’t get how lyrically some would think it’s not better than SOUR. the humor, the personality, the new topics she explored… are we not listening to the same album? :deadbanana4:

What did Olivia do for the hate train on ATRL?

The album is much better than sour that had 8 ballads that sounded the same

Pen game is up significantly, but the pop-punk sound really isn't for me I fear

Love it, revisit it. Way more solid than SOUR

There is way too much talk singing in this album. It’s very grating. For that alone I prefer sour

Right.  Olivia is promoting her album a lot right now, but her new team really dropped the ball this era. It’s not even clear which track is the current single. They waited an entire month to send GHB! to radio, and that was after it left TTHs. Vampire is the only song this era that is being treated like an actual single.

ATRLers just hate pop girls who aren’t their faves, especially when they’re new and are performing better than them both commercially and critically.

Still her best album, but I do think Interscope dropped the ball with this era after Vampire for sure. Very confusing rollout that dampened the excitement. The era already kinda feels over?

uneventful doesn’t mean things aren’t happening or there’s zero promo. just reading the posts above me, the era feels messy & confusing. comparing it to SOUR that had 3 proper singles before the album. now we’re getting bare minimum, and bir? was never even performed.

bad idea right is better than any song on SOUR

but it's also the only good song on GUTS :rip:

forgotten and uneventful as it aged like milk

Uneventful and boring. She needs a new manager / management team ASAP.

The second era defines your long term success (Taylor, Gaga, etc) and Olivia messed it up with 1) the cover, 2) singles and 3) promo.

Boring. Also her music is childish. The acclaim makes no sense to me and gp isn't feeling it. She will need to revamp her image in future and music as well.
