Lowest points in pop/mainstream music?

What are the LOWEST points in pop/mainstream music in your opinion?

Here are a few that stand out to me tbh:

The Murder on my Mind song actually charting that one time in 2017-18.

Astroworld & Travis' comeback.

Try That in a Small Town & Last Night's top 2 back-2-back slayage

This performance (& its subsequent excuses & justifications):

Blurred Lines dominance

Basically that whole era. Katy & Gaga began releasing lackluster pop. (Pop was out in general atp) and every hip hop artist was trying to sound like DJ Mustard.

Royals, Thrift Shop, and Bruno were dominating and that was a snoozefest :priceless:

Dance Monkey becoming a global hit, and Tones and I's reign of relevance.

Preach. The 2013 Billboard YE list is rough (for a taste, the top 3 are Blurred Lines, Thrift Shop and Radioactive) and idk why some people think it's the best year in pop music.

If we’re talking about individual moments, Mariah’s mental health crisis being mainstream news for an entire summer in 2001 was absolutely disgusting. She was institutionalized twice while major news channels and newspapers were talking about her “crack-up.”

It was definitely a low point when a song containing the lyrics "I wanna drink until I throw up" went #1

[I stan Dynamite though]

Try That in a Small Town hitting #1 was kind of a low point in American popular culture history, period. :deadbanana4: or at least for this century.

Fall 2013 was amazing in particular but yeah 2013 was kind of rough.

2014 was a fun year to experience in real time with pop but 2014 music kinda aged like milk.

Popular music has been on life support since the end of the 2000s.
