Ahhhh! So new music must be coming???

Also a big deal since her entire catalogue is under Sony.

Queen of starting fresh!

I can't seem to find that on her website but I don't know why someone would make it up either. It does explain the recent website make over to be fair.

Great for a legacy act

Y’all uptight hoes really need to lighten the **** up. Not 17 dislikes for calling her a legacy act. Is she not? She’s commercially done. People only check for the nostalgia. That’s facts and there’s nothing wrong with it. ATRL is so sensitive.

Yeah and I got an email that says: Welcome to the Britney Spears Mailing List

And then at the bottom it says:

You have received this email because you provided your email address to a UMG artist or label mailing list

Great. RCA doesn't know how to sustain careers in the long run :giraffe:

Could this possibly not be as her publishing has always been under UMG?

This would be amazing if she is with them and not RCA.

It would be very easy to make the Sony contract go away given the circumstances it was signed under.

It was rumoured that she signed a four album contract with RCA in 2014 and the first album under that contract was Glory. I don't know if we have any confirmation of that deal but it seems like that's what happened. However, since the details of the conservatorship came to light, I'd say all of her past contracts have been cancelled since she didn't sign them herself (it was signed for her by the people running the conservatorship). So her contract with Sony is likely cancelled.

As for her masters, they probably still belong to Sony. That is unless Britney bought them back herself but I don't think she would, plus she'd have to pay a lot of money.

Her aim with Universal (if she is in fact with them) is likely to start fresh and create new music from here out. Maybe she liked the terms of the contract they were offering her and felt a partnership with them was a good fit for her.

Always happy for a fresh start with new management (as being on a label with her ex JT, chief frenemy Christina, and principal bully Pink (and their teams meant to maintain their "sweet" reputations) for all of these years must've felt like High School :skull:), but more importantly I really hope she's able to reclaim ownership of her music before she passes away.

Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson (fellow supernova-level stars + label cash-cows that kept Arista and Epic Records respectively afloat in times of widespread label underperformance) were not so lucky.

I wonder which label she signed with under Universal Music. I think Interscope makes most sense.
