Damn, that's the hotel Britney filmed the Overprotected Darkchild remix, right?

What a dance break that was

Wait Taylor is a huge Britney fan... Maybe she's showing how she's always wanted to dance shamelessly but can only do so when she knows no one is watching her (I haven't seen the song or seen the video sorry lol)

Tbh it's sad people are dragging her for this. It's a good thing she has a gazillion fans that she can actually bubble up with. I wish Britney had had access to her fans in such an intimate way back when she needed that positivity. :gaycat7:

Taylor's general intention is obvious, I don't have to see the video or even know what the song is about. She's always been nothing but very appreciative of pop music so this obviously isn't a genuine attempt at anything but being vulnerable.

For ya'll dragging Taylor, the dancing was supposed to be bad. It was the concept.

Beyoncé is ASPIRATIONAL. You see her perfect moves and hear her powerful vocals, and you strive to become as good in your craft as Beyoncé is in hers.

She's the ultimate example of how far you can go with talent and hours and hours of hard work and dedication. She has an unmatched work ethic.

Taylor's appeal is... I honestly don't know. I guess it's the same appeal that a Big Mac has for some people.

Phew, now THAT is a read I can get behind. I totally feel this sentiment. At least back then with Gaga-mania or Adele-mania I could understand it - these were women who were either daring and fierce to the point of obscurity (Gaga at her peak) or honestly had a wonderful tone when singing (Adele).

But Taylor-mania I will truly never, ever, ever get.

The end of a relationship is a common songwriting theme, which artists of all ages write about. Taylor hasn’t written a “high school” breakup song since WANEGBT which was intentionally campy.

the excuses :deadbanana4: "she looks bad dancing on purpose" "she sings off key on purpose to show emotion"

Taylor's writing is the new prime Britney's dancing.

Did her time writing songs... stop? :psyduck:

You're disparaging Taylor's work ethic:deadbanana2:

Is referencing "prime Britney dancing" not about nostalgia to a performer's heyday to defend current actions?

Also... I would argue that uplifting songwriting is... more important for an musician, over "prime dancing" :priceless:

The way the answer is always right there for y'all: you don't get it. And that's fine. But that doesn't mean everyone else is incorrect. What kind of solipsistic world do y'all live in where the only things that deserve recognition are things you like :deadbanana2:

Someone like Beyonce could never make a song like Delicate.

And we thank God for that

The one who has music illiteracy here is YOU, Taylor doesn't need 30 vocal doublings, 5 different chopped drum loops, and key + tempo changes on one song to make a song sound different.

kiii @ you calling your fave’s music basic :bibliahh:

The worst part is that "Delicate" is like one of her only 3 good songs and she wasted it on that awfully embarrassing video :sistrens:

you're right in the sense that the comparison is unfair and inaccurate

Britney's dancing was revered and she was the best white female dancer of all the musicians we've ever had in televised history. Find me one, any single one, that's better, and I'll personally stand in queue for Taylor's next release

The only quality about Taylor as an artist that reaches the same heights that Britney's dancing reached is Taylor's PR team

It’s weird that some of y'all are automatically assuming she’s a Hive member

And making comments such as “someone like Beyoncé could never write”

I'm sorry but pretending this concept was some high-brow mind-blowing idea is the dumbest take of all takes. the call is coming from inside the house.

The point is that the concept is very obvious and yet y'all still can't seem to get it. Calling it high-brow is giving y'all the benefit of the doubt considering it should have been known from the start :rip:
