I really doubt that people outside of her fandom are listening the TVs. She has deals with everyone, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's using tricks with Spotify to boost the stats of the TVs by "stealing" streams from the original versions. 2 4

This Love TV is a MASSIVE upgrade. The OG is listenable (along w/ all of the OG Red tbfh). TVs have been supreme for those of us who become fans later in her career.

bjorn Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she IS the moment. Now c’mon now! The power that that has, the intelligence that that has, the clearance that that has, the access that that has, the influence that that has, the profile that that has, the international implications that that has 2
Klein Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Ok HDD, spill on what you already know. Because 1M+ debut, even beating 1989 OG's debut week is definitely on the table. 1.6M debut is another story though. 1

Frozen99 Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Quote gave that contest the best Sunday-night ratings since the Super Bowl. i just can't with her re-peaking with a re-recording...

Whilst he’s very talented, Max isn’t some untouchable genius. I mean, there are many producers who are equally, if not even more talented. Of course, it’s fine to prefer the original albums, but let’s not pretend that some of the TV’s absolutely elevated some of the songs far above their original counterparts (see: The Way I Loved You, Treacherous, ATW10MV, Dear John, This Love, etc). I know these weren’t Max songs, but some of 1989’s best tracks weren’t even Max songs anyway (OOTW, Clean). Taylor is exceptionally self aware and must know how universally loved 1989 was/is. I highly doubt she greenlit anything that was not of substantial quality. I guess people get some accustomed to the originals that in can be jarring hearing even the most minor of differences. 3

Vespertine Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Quote Democracy’s rooting section fervently hopes she stays in for the duration. She can unquestionably make a difference. Maybe the difference. This feels like 1989 era is actually coming again Obnoxious.

That’s categorically incorrect. It’s not a case of layering a few instruments and sticking some vocals on it. Even “simple”/acoustic sounding songs from her earlier albums are layered with musical nuances and a multitude of production challenges (BPM, instrument timbre, texture and vocal harmonisation, etc). Taylor even said herself (in words to this effect) that the process was timely as they had to go through the originals, line-by-line/note-by-note, to assure the vocal delivery was as similar as possible. Do you know how hard that is? Especially given how the human voice’s tone/timbre matured and changes over time. The same goes for the instruments/mixing equipment… some of the ones used way back when the originals were produced may not be even available anymore so you’re trying to recapture a sound/particular timbre that is even harder to recreate. Honestly, regardless of what people think of any frivolous differences (the “Weee” in WANEGBT, the “do” in LWYMMD), it’s truly a marvel and nothing short of admirable for Taylor and these producers/musicians to be re-recording SIX albums released over a period of a decade in the time and quality they’ve achieved. #facts People can, of course, make their own decisions but I for one only use the TV’s from now on and have been buying each one. I like to know the artists I’m listening to are supported and have autonomy of their art. 1

Copying and pasting an avi… how original and what a insightful contribution to the discourse of Taylor’s re-recordings. I guess people love to focus on tiny, frivolous details with the re-recording instead of thinking how the multitude of positives makes those negatives almost non-issues. I can personally live with the “weee” seeing as the same re-recorded album that came on also delivered ATW10MV, several amazing vault tracks, and some of the re-recorded album tracks far superseding their original counterparts in quality and production. But sure, yeah, if the “WeeEe” is your take home from that then… cool? I suppose.
