Gays who support homophobic islamic countries and people, why?

Why some gays blindly support and defend homophobic states and people that hate them and want them dead?

I’m fairly left leaning and I advocate for the integration of minorities and supporting the underprivileged, etc... But if someone has homophobia as one of their values, for me they can rot.

Define “support”.

I will always side the oppressed, not the oppressor. But that doesn’t mean I have their flag hanging in my living room. You can side with a group without fully endorsing what they do/believe in.

Because oppression is bad no matter who it is.

If this is what I think it’s about… Being homophobic shouldn’t mean that they deserve apartheid, decades of murder and torture, and basically an attempted genocide. (None of this is to say I support the attack on Israel civilians, any civilian death is a tragedy and the heads of states should receive all blame for the blood on their hands).

When Russia invaded Ukraine, there were discussions about a lot of Ukrainians being homophobic/racist. Which is obviously wrong but that doesn’t mean that they deserve to be invaded or not supported.

Also saying “gays blindly support” is just a random opinion you gave and not routed in any kind of truth. Personally I believe more left leaning people are more informed on their support of topics than right leaning people.

You sound so lame.

You really don’t have to care for the religion somebody has in order to be a decent human being who stands against multi-generational genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and Apartheid.

It's a bit pathetic and ignorant to say, but I guess that's the level the op's brain could understand.

Noone supports homophobia, it is only requested that all the populations of the world be recognized as having basic human rights, including the freedom and dignity of existing. For many this concept is strange to understand because they have never suffered a day in their lives, but there are generations who have never lived a day without the risk of being killed every night while sleeping in their own home. A country that has been fighting for years for the right to exist has had no opportunity to progress on other social aspects, which we remember are achievements of recent years even in countries where there have been no wars for almost a century.

It's always good to remember this poem:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I don't get it either. It's time for a new progressive movement. I hate the right but I can't support the current left 100% because of these things.

I don't think someone deserves death for being homophobic, especially when they are stuck in a cycle of oppression and violations of human rights. When people are stuck in a situation where they have to fear for their lives 24/7 most of these issues end up not mattering for them.

Just because someone holds a differing worldview than you doesn't mean war crimes, genocide, murder etc should be committed against them. Basic human rights can be respected despite disagreements. Everyone has the right to exist and it is not up to others to decide otherwise.

No one is supporting hamas crimes but the right of palestine to exist.

Your logic could be applied to the hospital bombing to. It's the right thing to bomb and kill children?

Let’s not go there. When Israel has been doing all that and more for a around 75 years while ethnically cleansing the Muslim population in the process. You can’t pick and choose or be selectively woke.
