it got a number 1 song, that alone is making it a pretty good era compared to planet her :gaycatx:  It’s nice and distinct, maybe the next era will be more palatable overall

RIP Scarlet. You would have loved Daredevil

The fact that it's doing so poorly despite having a massive hit with PTTR is pretty shocking honestly. I expected her to do way better than that, you thought she'd have a stronger fanbase after her previous eras.

It's the music. It's very non-commercial. An intentional decision on her end.

This. Its an experimental album.

She definitely lost support from her fanbase. Artists that are appreciative of their fanbase are uplifted. See: Taylor, Nicki, Selena, Olivia

And those that are not are dumped. See : Cardi

when you put it that way..

It's a very good album.

And while she did alienate some of her fanbase with the "devil antics" and the "that wasn't the real before/**** my fans" posts... I still find it odd for her to have such weak sales. People claim to want "real rappers" X, Y, and Z... and here we have Doja as the lead writer on every song and actually being versatile... yet she is selling 1/4th of the Invasion of Privacy.

Madness.

Idk if you are joking but this is exactly right. I can add Gagas name there too. Belittling the power of your fans is like the dumbest things you can do. Look at Britney. Her fans made sure the whole world new about it. I can even go as far and say that Britney is alive thanks to her fans.

She dissed them all and drove them away.

The album came out last week ago and I don’t know a single person in my circle that’s still streaming it.

"My friends don't listen to it so it's not popular/good" :skeleton:

I like Doja but im not streaming someone who hates me. Im not a masochist. i still value myself and my worth :gaycat:

it's actually one of the only albums released this year that I've returned to multiple times.

She doesn't have a fanbase and basically depends on TikTok in order to find success. Which is not bad for her as of now but it'll affect her in the long run

What if you combine a mid album and a fad artist? The result is Scarlet era.

We see time and time again that artists without a solid fanbase, basically singles artists, don't have longevity. Not even the GP is here for her lol

The first page basically summed it up, but I also think that doing some interviews would’ve done her good.

When you switch up your sound—it’s important to emphasize the reasoning, especially when you’re trying to cater to a new audience. The only explanation we got so far was that her previous albums were cash grabs :rip: like okay, but what made you want to ditch the pop sound? What inspired you to drop a rap album this time around? Etc etc.

She kinda just dropped the album, and dipped.

Is it really doing that poorly?

No shade at all but what is experimental about this album that wasn't something she already put out with Amala? Seems like a very straight forward album with little experimentation, with a lot of callbacks in production to classic rap, particularly Missy Elliot, to me.

No artist is ever big enough to diss their fans and supporters and not be affected, that was really dumb on her part
