Take Me Apart Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 The album came out last week ago and I don’t know a single person in my circle that’s still streaming it. All the singles sans PTTR have had sinister charts runs, the album is barely scratching the top 5 and it’s probably gonna fall off the top 10 next week. What went wrong exactly? 3 10

Pud Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 It’s the music. The album certainly isn’t bad, but it’s clearly not appealing to the GP. There’s zero interest in any of the new songs besides Agora Hills
PMM Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 What Do You mean "died on arrival" the album is still there You don't know any single person? - well. Maybe they listen to other music? Maybe this album is not for their taste? Do You really care about chart in this tik tok era? any jingle can be "hit" right now. Now those singers come and go If the album will be out of top 10? then what? Those are only numbers You listen to artist that main purposeis to chart? 5
HardBambi Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Paint the town red is big enough to carry the album ‼️ 1
needs Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Doja is not an artist that pops off from jump. The album will probably do just fine in the long run. 3
brraap Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 She definitely lost support from her fanbase. Artists that are appreciative of their fanbase are uplifted. See: Taylor, Nicki, Selena, Olivia And those that are not are dumped. See : Cardi 1 1
FreeXone Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 The album was very good. I’m still streaming. 1
Frozen99 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 her gp fanbase was mostly here for her pop hits and she switched but i'm definitely still streaming
Alex Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 The era ended at midnight on Friday and her pop audience isn't streaming a rap album but it's still an amazing body of work
BnPac Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 The album just came out... And how representative of a sample is your "circle" for it to be mentioned? 1

Genie in a Bottle Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) She is a singles artist. She is like the Katy Perry of this generation, Dr. Luke creating her biggest hits and all. Her albums will sell decently overtime slowly as long as there are multiple singles from the project on the radio every fifteen minutes for the first year and a half. Her fanbase is not like Taylor or Olivia’s where the stans are rabid and foaming at the mouth for the album drop more than anything else. Taylor could easily sell 1m+ in the first week of an album and not have any single crack the top 10 (per the old chart rules before they were changed bc now every track from an album in its debut week charts on the Hot 100 which I don’t understand bc that’s like double dipping but I digress….) Doja is the opposite of this kind of artist. Post Malone also fits into this category. She will eventually fall off rather hard commercially in about three years when her shtick is no longer trendy and her sound becomes dated and no longer “fresh”. Dua Lipa fits this bill as well. They’re all “GP artists” that do not appeal to anyone over the age of 35 that is also conservative, boring, and white — which is a necessary demographic to appeal to when it comes to genuine longevity. Their young fans will eventually grow up and they will suffer the same fate as the Paula Abdul’s and Nelly’s Edited October 2, 2023 by Genie in a Bottle 3 1
Totami Legend Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 luke doesn't need her anymore. that's what's happening. 2
Funnyfatty Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 She released a good album idc what anyone says but she is a genz artist which is filled with big mouthed ******* that should stop talking more and read more books. Doja has lots of talents and is imo this decades best star but she can’t reach her full potential because she is arrogant. The album cover SUCKS. **** your feeling if you felt comfortable making that your cover doja. I don’t like it, your fans don’t like it and i know that cover didn’t blow your mind either so why being so edgy about that stupid pic being your album cover? She was and still is the biggest clown for that. Her fans has at least 10 more better covers fanmade that are better. secondly i think she needed to work with better directors or whatever. Demons music video was great but it was lacking something. If the same music video was shot in 2010 it would had a different touch and be the music video of the year. Maybe with gagas directors from the past idk. thirdly, loose that nasty attitude. She is one of the most promoted artist from this decade. She is everywhere. On the radios, award shows, social media, in the playlists, on tv channels yet only 130m streams a whole week with it totally being carried by the lead single? GIRL PLS. You don’t deserve any of that promo if your numbers look like that. I wish her luck next era where she shuts her mouth and does her work. 1 1 1
Jormungand Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 I've had Scarlet on repeat these past few days. I don't understand why people expect Doja to come out with blockbuster numbers, it should be clear for the slow ones in the back that she's not that kind of artist. She's not someone like Taylor that appeals to cookie cutter suburban kids, I'd argue she's even alienated many of them due to her antics and the whole "devil" association. Despite this, her music still speaks for itself and those that appreciate it will continue to praise it for what it is and stream. 1 1
simplywohoo Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 it's just not what she gained her fanbase with with planet her. that's what people want from her, so they are turned off at first. however, while it did definitely better, planet her wasn't exactly a smash right out of the gate either, so maybe the gp will warm up to scarlet as well. to me, it sounded same-ish and i only liked a few songs.. since i love planet her, i was pretty disappointed too. but she will be fine.

EliMaraj Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 It's the music. It's very non-commercial. An intentional decision on her end.
