RENAISSANCE: A Film By Beyoncé | Out NOW | Global box office: $44.4M

I just got back from the movie by myself and had so much fun. You definitely have to at least like Beyonce to sit through as it's quite long but as much as I loved the performances, I loved to see the BTS of Beyonce being so candid with her family and prepping for the tour.

We know we rarely get to see that side and Blue is growing up to be such a beautiful young little lady.

I was at the first screening and it was a mess too, so I was hoping it would work for the 2AM screening... x)

But we did good on the second 'surprise' mute but it was way shorter!

Was the room packed or was there a lot of empty seats?

Sleep well today haha

omg our screening managed to fail the second mute too :gaycat6:  a random guy shouted really loud on purpose

It was close to being packed, maybe a few empty rows at the very top in the back. I was surprised that so many people showed up for the night screening but it was a very cool experience, Paris Hive is not playing :clap3:

merci

going to see this tomorrow on IMAX!

still sad there isn't a live album

I had chills the entire time, and I couldn't stop smiling. I almost cried several times lmao.

I was the only on in the theater, but that meant I could sing and dance in my seat without feeling embarrassed.

The cute ticket taker also gave me two of the posters.

I felt like such a bad ***** leaving the auditorium while My House was blaring. The bass was insane!! :ihype:

Just got back from seeing it in IMAX.  That was truly a mind-blowing experience!  She is definitely MOTHER!!!! :jonny5:

The vocals, dancing, special effects, props... everything was on point!  I also loved the behind-the-scenes look at the show and glimpse into her life. :smitten2:

I already want to go and see it again. :dies:

Sidenote: My theater was so empty though.  There were only 7 people including myself but I do live in a small rural town.  My theater also did not get the Renaissance cups, only the popcorn buckets. :gaycat6:

I was the only one in my theater :ghostface:I wanted to like it more than I did but it was really aesthetically pleasing at least!

Loved the Blue section, hearing the flawless vocals with the surround sound, and getting to see some of the looks I hadn’t seen online :jonny4:

I absolutely loved it! I like that it was more of a documentary than just a concert film because I really appreciated seeing the production and BTS work that went into the concert. My favorite part was when she visited Houston and talked about her early childhood there.

The theatre I went to was in a rural town and the theatre was probably half full? Which was around the same size as the Eras Tour movie showing I went to.

The film was honestly perfect in every way. I couldn’t imagine it being any better. Literally no critiques :jonnycat:

It showcased everything about the tour that I would’ve liked to have seen. From the production, blue, what inspired Renaissance.. ugh i’m so excited to see it again on Friday night :clap3:

I've seen twice so far, first time the theater was full, second time it was about 1/2 or so

I plan on going again tonight

This was so good. :jonny5:

The beginning of "Heated" leading into to emotional segment about her Uncle Johnny, then it going back to the song was just incredible. :cries:

Really good, a great experience for us who couldn’t afford the real thing. The way this is shot makes it feel so larger than life and important. My only complaint is that they really should have let some of the performances breathe. For some songs it makes sense for so many cuts and takes (eg. Cuff It, Energy) but for other songs it was kind of excessive, especially during the latter half of the show.

What an amazing time this was. I loved reliving this amazing show and learn a lot of more about all the BTS process and the inspirations for the show. And I also got to see "Thique," "All Up In Your Mind" and "Drunk In Love," which were not performed at my date. Seeing that performance has given me a new appreciation for "All Up In Your Mind."

I loved all the little things she incorporated from the tour, such as the lights going off during "Alien Superstar" or clips of the BeyHive's reaction when someone ruined the mute challenge. :rip:

I would have preferred she kept "Love on Top" and "I Care" though, so I hope a director's cut is available for purchase soon. And I also would have liked that she showed the whole voguing section of the show, instead of just clips while the dancers where doing voice-overs. It was great to see the humans behind that moment and how much freedom they had on the show, but it would have been better if it was all shown in full.

My screening clearly won the mute challenge, but that's because it was barely 20 of us there who clearly knew the assignment.

I LOVED this so much. I can't wait to own this.

I also feel like the documentary parts feel genuine this time with Blu and her injuries.

Saw this last night and I loved it! Went on a date with a guy and forgot to mention not to make a sound during the mute challenge and he spoke and the girls next to us were so mad :bibliahh:

loved how she included the milkshake sample I screamed. I need that live album now :WAP:

I am still on a high after coming home from the theater.  The vocals were immaculate.

Is there any news on international later days?

Look like this wont be shown in my country which is a shame.

Im not a big fan but love Renaissance album so much and was so hype for this movie.

I just came back from the theater. I went with 2 other friends and there were 5 other people in the theater.

I did not like the opening. It was boring. :michael:  I also wish she had included more hits. :michael:

I did like the visuals, choreography, stage design, and the behind the scenes sections.

Overall I like the concert film :bird:

This was amazing! I’m a casual fan since 2005 (Check on it) and I’ve always wanted to see her live and this was the closest I’m been to that experience.

The first section remains out of place in the show but I guess she had a reason to open with just ballads, but then when the show kicks off is just full of energy and non-stop moments.

I enjoyed listening to the creative process of the tour and the era, it feels like she spent the whole pandemic brainstorming the concept and it really shows because the stage, visuals, lighting everything is 10/10.

I appreciated that she opened a little bit of her persona and she reminded me of Madonna so much, she’s so in control of her life, about what she wants and how she wants it, it’s sad what happened to her leg and I love how she said that after 25 years of career she doesn’t have anything left to prove and that her instrument is her voice and she doesn’t need to be dancing or doing crazy gimmicks. She so inspiring and powerful.

Blue is so cute and smart, I loved the whole section about her.

Also, is she still having issues with Jay? I understand that this is her tour/project but he barely had some lines here and there and was like a shadow following her, it gave the impression that it’s like an arranged marriage just to keep the image and whatever, also the twins felt ignored like Blue was everywhere from start to finish and she barely acknowledged the twins.

Please imma need the live album because I need the remixes and live versions of several moments in the tour.

IIRC, Jay-Z was the one asking the questions in the very last part of the film.

To me, he was just leaving her her own space because that's her project. She was working so he made himself smaller out of respect.

As for the twins: they're way younger than Blue so it's less interesting to focus on them AND they also can't really have an informed opinion about being projected on big screens across the world, so it's better to keep their little lives far from the public eye.
