Dirrty is a perfect example of that. Everything about that song, including the outfit and the choreo are super iconic, and yet it peaked at only #48 on the BB Hot 100 (though it was a top 3 in dozens of countries and made it 14 end-year lists).

Love On Top from Beyoncé is another good example. The song is very iconic and it will always be linked to the pregnancy announcement that broke Twitter, but it peaked at #20.

Billie came to mind first.

look no further than the #64 peaking “lovely” having 2.5 BILLION streams, on par with (or bigger than) all the #1 hits from that year :hoetenks:

Stevie Nicks: Edge of Seventeen peaked at #11 but it has gone on to be one of the most iconic rock songs in history.

Don't Speak by No Doubt was not allowed to chart because of Hot 100 rules at the time but it is their signature song nonetheless.

Ocean Eyes peaking at #84 and iirc, being 3x plat with several more eligible, yup.

Taylor Swift. Many of her biggest hits are not number one hits (Teardrops of My Guitar #13, Our Song #16, Love Story #4, You Belong With Me #2, I Knew You Were Trouble #2, Back to December #6, Style #6, Wildest Dreams #5, Cruel Summer #3)

Plus she also has popular album tracks (Enchanted, Don’t Blame Me, August)
