Pop superstar Katy Perry sold her music rights to Carlyle-backed Litmus Music on Monday for a reported $225 million. With the sale, her net worth increases to an estimated $340 million, making her one of the richest self-made women in America.

Since 2021, Perry has also had a Las Vegas residency at Resorts World that pays her a reported $168 million for 32 shows and will wrap up in November. The singer, who is married to actor Orlando Bloom, also has a shoe brand, Katy Perry Collections, and a non-alcoholic beverage brand, De Soi.

I have two questions:

1. How was she "only" worth $115M before the deal?

2. I still don't understand the $168M deal, it sounds like a lot, how? :deadbanana4:

Why would they invest so much in someone who keeps flopping? It doesn't make sense. Sounds like a PR article!!!

Oh Katy you will always be famous! :msmarvel:

It’s only ‘reportedly’ I really wouldn’t believe this when the tickets are going for 20 dollars sometimes.

Forbes is the one who reported that the witness tour pulled in 125m total, when almost all the dates were hidden and the grosses we got would never have realistically added to that figure.

I like her but there's no way she is getting paid 168M for 30 shows :deadbanana:

But aren't they supposed to know this stuff?

It may sound like a lot but she's always made great deals throughout her career so I'm not surprised tbh.

I have read Adele shows makes 2.5 m dollars for night. So 6.5M for every night seems way too much.

I know these resorts don't make Money only with the concert and their purpose Is ti have people in the resort to spend Money in restaurants and casinos while are there, but seems too much even counting this.

Forbes says "reportedly" so they too are going by a feeling. :rip:

Sorry, but no one with a functioning brain stem believes Katy Perry is getting paid more for her shows than Adele and Gaga. I am sure she is making tens of millions, but $168m is :deadbanana: If her entire catalog just sold for $225m, this resort is not paying her $168m and taking a near $100,000,000 loss.

Yeah, Forbes never makes sense. Did they not report she made $135m in, like, 2013 when she topped their list?

I'm not really sure what you're referring to (as I do not keep up with Katy closely). but is it possible that $125M was not the box office gross but overall tour revenue? so a total tha includes merch sales, VIP packages, and other deals with the venues she performed at?

I'm highly doubtful Forbes would make up a number or publish it without verifying the stats.

Get coin, Katheryn!

In the long haul, she is a good investment in Vegas and worth every pennies.... even with one or two flops eras she's still Katy Perry and her old hits sit well. :bird:

It's her new quick lil' cycle.

And why did Forbes not consider the value of her music rights before this sale? :rip:

They're an asset, thus always had value and should've been included in her net worth all along, but it looks like Forbes waited until someone else bought them to put a number on them. :skull:

The way the user Trojan run into any Katy thread and dislikes anything even remotely positive about her is like… so embarrassing. :rip:

The vegas deal is interesting, but tbh casios make so much money off OTHER things beyond ticket sales, so its not the same as a tour.

The other girls aren't making $5M per night at Vegas, slay Katheryn :clap3:

What is the hate with Katy on this and the other thread about her Vegas deal. This isn't even serious and you're all worked up for this. You're weird. :rip:
