That honestly wouldn't surprise me. Just because someone is ok with the gays doesn't mean they're ok with trans people.

Because she is the "star" of the show, so it makes headlines.

But it doesn’t implicate Ryan Murphy in the toxicity as hard as attacking him directly. So if she’s already lying on Emma, why not lie on him harder? Why not say he was aware of the bullying Emma was doing or that he went out of his way to support her toxicity?

This isn't giving what you think it's giving. She said a joke about transphobia on set while surrounded by her cast mates. She was being facetious in that particular moment.

The other girl said, "...in the nicest way."  They literally made a joke.

Joking about it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Why would she randomly joke about transphobia on the set of the show in front of the castmates she's friendly with and why would Billie play along with the joke if it didn't happen? You're free to interpret it the way you want to, but I can take it as them joking about the experience on set with people Angelica is comfortable with.

yikes. i always felt like there was some truth to the blind items about emma and it’s probably the reason as to why she never really gets much (notable) work outside of ryan murphy productions

Why would they be joking about it if it’s so serious though?

I mean it just kind of seems like her initial comments about Ryan didn’t get the attention she wanted and then she pivoted to this :katie:

If Emma said it **** ha! But I just find it all comes across a bit disingenuous…

Didn’t she allege that their was a transphobic cast member the same night she tweeted about Ryan Murphy? She just didn’t release the name and story.

Lea Michelle all over again, Ryan clearly has favorites that can get away with anything…

This he condones a toxic set and we don’t seem to hold him responsible

also Emma isn’t talented enough to get away with this

I get that some of y’all are skeptical by

nature, and there’s a real value in being suspicious of things, but y’all also have to rationalize your skepticism.

You can’t just say “yeah I don’t buy this, it seems opportunistic,” but then shrug your shoulders when people poke holes into your perspective.

Have enough faith in your own ability to reason to stand in something and follow each thought to its logical conclusion.

Kind of gross how some people are perpetuating the normalization of actresses having to stay quiet about abuse and discrimination on sets in fear of retaliation.

I mean Emma is a terrible person so I don’t know why anyone here would believe she is above transphobia, the woman literally beat TF out of her ex boyfriend :deadbanana4:

People joke about their own disabilities, personal traumatic experiences etc. it's a coping tool.

This is so disappointing, I love Emma. Hopefully she apologizes and donates a big cheque to some trans charity

Emma has had a rep for being a mean girl and bully for YEARS

Glad to see her finally get called out on it

Lea Michelle was even terrified of rubbing Emma the wrong way during Scream Queens

You've never joked about a bitchy, entitled bully coworker before? Most people don't have mental breakdowns, panic attacks, cry uncontrollably or have a serious group talk over passive aggressive comments or jokes made about them. That's a daily part of life and vast majority of people just ignore it or use some other coping mechanism (like humor).

Yeah, I found the timing of this interesting. Obviously #ImWithHer because transphobia is unacceptable, but why wait until now? Why did nobody else on set report this or note this?

She had the opportunity to open some floodgates on what it's like BTS working on a Murphy production and didn't. But here I am telling a Black trans woman how she could have done better, so maybe I should sit this one out.

She probably had bills to pay and was incentivized to put up with it for the sake of the paycheck. Can you blame her for not wanting to self-sabotage her career? People face discrimination and harassment in the workplace all the time and stay quiet because they don't have the energy or financial backings to put on a superhero cape and fight it.

Now that Murphy has left her on read and the bookings have stopped, she clearly doesn't have anything to lose hence why she's airing it all out.

The reason Emma doesn't get a lot of work outside of the Ryan Murphy-verse on anything significant is her reputation as well. It's known she is diva and not enjoyable to have on-set.

Also very telling there isn't a rush of former co-stars and co-workers saying 'this is not the emma I know' etc etc

Exactly and it's not like Murphy isn't one of the most powerful producer in Tinseltown (and the only - to his credit - to actually hire trans actors). As annoying or toxic he is (from what we've been hearing for years now), if you are a trans actress or actor trying to make it, you do not have that many productions venue.
