I don’t think the comment had true malice that was meant to break apart Angelica’s identity - it sounds like a joke in bad taste after getting a little too comfortable.

This isn't even true. Just one look at her filmography and it's not true. I honestly didn't think she works that much but between movies and TV she has at least 3 acting credits per year and executive producing productions she is not in for that last two years. While also being a single mom. TBH I'm surprised she works this much.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say Emma said SOMETHING inappropriate. Maybe as a joke, maybe not. It was exaggerated by Angelica, but not entirely untrue, so they came to a middle ground "settlement" that instead of Emma fighting it or suing for defamation, she'd let it go by NOT having to apologize on her account with a bigger platform because:

 

1. Suing Angelica whether the claim was accurate or not wouldn't make her look any better 

2. Prolonging any issue would only keep it in the news longer

3. She actually did say something that could be taken offensively even if not exactly what Angelica said. So she'd at some point still have to admit she said something wrong even if it wasn't what was accused.

 

 

Now Angelica has gotten her 5 seconds of notoriety, Emma "acknowledged" the scandal without actually having to do any public apology, and the whole thing will go away in 2 days. It doesn't really add up (to me). I don't think it's as black and white as people are trying to make it seem. Her apologizing on Emma's behalf is extremely strange. 

You’re acting like Angelica concocted up this long elaborate fantasy exposé of Emma for clout. Angelica’s career isn’t gonna magically skyrocket because of this, lol, and I doubt she thought that either. This thread is so cynical assuming Angelica only wanted “clout” - she has a career on her own already as an actress and has won numerous lgbt visibility and awareness awards by HRC, GLAAD, and more. She doesn’t need Emma’s fame to boost her own.
 

She literally exposed Emma in one sentence. Saying to someone “you’re not a lady” to purposefully misgender them is textbook simple case of transphobia. Emma simply either said what she said or she did not.  The apology within hours to Angelica implies it was not a lie. If it’s not a lie, then what Emma said is super ****** up and there is not much way to spin it.  Emma isn’t publicly apologizing yet because she probably wanted to hush this quietly with minimal damage to her brand but Angelica is (rightfully imo) putting a fire under her ass to make sure Emma does better and rights her wrongs.
