He openly stated that he never voted for a Republican in his life and was VERY anti-Trump. Plus he played the role of an HIV-positive guy in the 90s with Margaret Cho and other gay icons of that time. The movie is called "It's My Party", you should check it out. It's a forgotten gem of queer cinema.
