After Muslim opposition, 5 schools set on fire in Belgium over sex/LGBTQ education

There are few things that disgust me more then queer people defending behavior like this. These people want death to your brothers and sisters in the name of a made up sky daddy, and as if that wasn't enough, they're doing it after moving to places to have a 'better life' while refusing to accept values that made those places attractive in the first place. **** them and their backwards ass ~culture

Yes, we sadly see lots of people murdering gays in the name of Jesus. Stop burying your head in the sand in order to justify your bigotry. The responses in this thread are sickening. Blaming the entire religion because of the actions of extremists is wrong. You're parroting right-wing, white supremacist talking points. It's absolutely vile to see.

ignore my comment and move along i do not give a rats **** what you think regarding this.

What would that look like logistically? Can you explain to me how you envision it? What exactly happens to the tens of millions of Muslims currently in Europe then?

They have many countries that share their same beliefs to choose from. They can relocate to a surrounding that fits them better instead of inforcing their lifestyle on others.

Islam in itself harbors homophobia like all the Abrahamic religions. The difference is Islam also (Muslim people) treats changes against the laws of religion as a hearsay and consider Christianity for example as basically a joke for trying to get in with modern times (Yeah i know what a bar to clear). This is also how it internally treats people who believes in Islam but doesn't stand for all of its causes.

When i have commented over this issue of silencing ex Muslim queer voices by the western queer folks, trying to score internet points, i have been told weirdo but it is cool, for sure. The man who lived in Holland in his life and became Muslim definitely knows a lot than people who have gone through its barbaric oppresion <3

It’s not when the religion is a pile of trash

and yes I have read both the Bible and the Quran, and guess what ? They’re both trash

I am an ex-muslim and let me tell you that most muslims think that you belong dead in a ditch.  stop acting like they’re some kind of martyrs suffering from the actions of a few « extremists »

Also because i'm feeling cute, here is an update on Turkey, the most secular country whose official religion is Islam.

Right now there is a heavy propaganda against LGBTQ+ organizations to the point that the government is planning to release hateful ads on TV. You know where they base this? Religion of course! Also i know what you all will say but when it is written in the ******* holy book and has been teached by your prophet's teachings over and over, i don't think they tried that hard to manipulate Islam for their benefits.

And yet you didn't call out the user falsely stating that people don't kill gays in the name of Jesus. You liked the post. How interesting. :coffee2:

This is so scary. Sadly doesn’t come as a surprise. In my area in Germany there is an Islamic brotherhood that holds weekly meetings and most of my (male) students go there and leave with very… weird world views.

So these delulu’s think sky daddy is going to like them better if… they burn down elementary schools?? Religion is a disease on society

Demand that they give up on their religion and become atheist (this should be done to everyone). Religion should be criminalized.

I am not a religious person. I think it's all bullshit, it's all corrupted, and it's all wrong.

However, this is not a realistic ask nor is it an especially productive one. We can talk all day about whether we agree or disagree with the fundamentals of a religion and the teachings of it--and make no mistake, I do disagree with most religious teachings--but we also can't ignore the fact that religion is at it's core an identity issue as well. Religion is a sham, but the people who practice religions don't see it that way and it is their identity and it often defines their communities. Religious freedom is a tenant of all free nations for a reason.

I believe there should be consequences for extremism, and I believe that the idea of religious freedom should not preclude anyone from facing those consequences. But to demand that someone strip away their identity in order to be welcomed into a community is a slippery slope that we really don't want to begin to traverse because it will eventually turn down a road that you really don't want to go down.

There are ways to combat religious extremism without calling for or ordering the complete dismantling someone's core freedoms and liberties and identity. You want to stop the violence associated with religion, but I promise you doing this would only increase it because all it will encourage is a religious revolution. If you posture yourself as an oppressor, eventually there will be backlash against it from those who view themselves as they oppressed.

And trust me, no one thinks they're oppressed more than those who're involved with organized religion.

If you want to fight that fight then go for it, but it's not going to solve the issues that you think it will. You can criminalize religion all you want, but it's not going to change anyone's minds, and it's certainly not going to fix anything because the majority of the world's population believes in some form of religion or religious freedom.

we really don't need another religion thread turned into christianity vs islam. all organized religion should be eradicated from the world. it doesn't matter which fantasy version of it you believe is less/more evil than the other. it's just so ******* sad we live with such ignorance and bigotry.

well u dont see losers actively murdering gays in the name of Christ now do you?

I very much understand your point and I would agree with you there's a much higher percentage of people in Islam who're participating in violence against LGBT individuals but...yes, we do see Christians murdering gays in the name of Christ. It just doesn't get the same sort of coverage because most western media is content to brush over the actions of Christian extremists because the chances are most of their readers and/or viewers are a part of a Christian religion.

Your overall point is not completely off base but to suggest it's a uniquely Islamic phenomenon is false.

The organized religions all do suck. I have no issues with people who are religious as long as they are decent but this whitwashing over Islam done by LGBTQ+ communities is a joke.

The OP that describes the actions of extremists? I get you want to side with those calling for the genocide of millions, but that doesn't make me the "dumb loud and wrong" one in this situation.

Disgusting racists

If it was any other religion or race, this thread would have been closed by now.

Using an isolated incident to attack a group of people is vile. As if any other group cannot be criminals but obviously atrl is too civilised to start talking about deporting innocents and locking them up unless they are foreigners, Muslims, immigrants or whatever you feel like attacking.

Literally it has the second largest number of followers of any religion but being racist makes it hard to grasp what an outlier mean.

Atrl keeps showing its true colours. 🤮

How many incidents need to happen for it to stop being “an isolated incident”? Is 6 elementary schools where we draw the line or? As if we don’t have news like this on a weekly basis at this point.
