It’s getting weird. I see so many short vídeos on YouTube in which a guy shows all her plagiarism. I didnt know it was that bad

It's expected that a younger, more talented and prettier popstar gets a lot of stans worried and pressedT.

Are you trying to say that Olivia is more talented than Fiona Apple? :rip:

OT: I like Olivia and I like Sour and Guts but I do like the latter less in the sense that I got old by second listening and here is why: You can be inspired by other artists but in Olivia’s case her “inspirations” are to front and center that when you listen to Guts you are not only hearing a second redo of an Olivia song, you are listening to the third or fourth redone of a Lorde/Taylor/Paramore song. It is very easy to see what she picked and from where to make her Frankensteins of a song.

This is what it is for me. Thank you for wording it so well!

I actually like plenty of her songs in theory (the one in the OP is fun!) and bopped to G4U and all that, but there's always a nagging feeling that you've heard it before -- and better. It's getting weird imo.

No. I was talking about another female singer that Olivia gets compared to quite often.

Literally the only thing y'all are doing atp is exposing yourselves for not understanding how music works. I understand you have a bone to pick with this girl but find a legitimate reason or keep it moving because this "Olivia stole from _____" is getting exhausting

It’s not about “not understanding how music works.” It’s about the fact that every time she releases new music, there is a often a very direct reference that has barely had a new spin put on it :deadbanana2:

Perhaps the correct word is “pastiche.”

Yeah, I think that’s why millennial  straights like her so much. She’s purposely emulating the grunge girl sound of the 90s/00s

lol Olivia and Fiona are not even in the same universe, even when talking about 20 year old Fi. If y'all don't leave this child alone.

Because people online clip songs and take slight similarities and blow them up to be massive cases of plagiarism when that’s not the case and also not how it works. There are a lot of songs that sound extremely similar to one another despite being their own thing. She’s established her own lane while also paying homage and being candid about her musical inspirations.
