Good for Rihanna, for giving songwriters their credit. Also, lol at everyone automatically thinking Sia is shading Beyoncé.  She should’ve never claimed to write Irreplaceable, that’s when she started getting the bad reputation for stealing writing credits.

that was 84 years ago and the only reason the "theifyoncé" jokes persist is because Beyoncé never tried to defend herself back in the day about any of it. She let her dad run the ship, telling her what to say and how to move. Notice she hasn't publicly claimed to have written anything by herself since he's been out of the picture. If you know anything about the music industry at all then you know songwriting credit clearance and claims discrepancies didn't start with Beyoncé and they sure as hell don't end with her.

exactly ONE Sia-written song has ever appeared on a Beyoncé album. Two if you include the bonus song on BEYONCÉ's Platinum Edition, which itself was a remix of a song that was never released.

Chile, they gotta stop making Sia having one Bey song the highlight of her career. That and Chanadlier, as well as Diamonds.

I'm glad Sia has immense respect for Bey and has never hinted that she's had a problem. And she's clearly outspoken. Hags need to hang it up.

Except for the pesky fact that Sia has said that Beyoncé absolutely did contribute to the songs, thus her songwriting credit.

Kind of absurd that Sia has stated Beyoncé hosted her in a Hamptons mansions, contributed to the songs, and yet what ATRL hears is "locked in a basement and steals writing credits". If that makes you feel better, I guess go on ignoring what Sia has actually said.

Right like, Sia has written about 150+ songs for other artists, with only ONE song appearing on a Beyoncé album and Sia herself explained it had contributions by Beyoncé. The lack of knowledge and/or the willful ignorance is too much.

she stole bebe's though

Friendly reminder that you can stan Beyoncé and / or Taylor without having to resort to denying reality.

(Even more mind-blowing since they're the only 2 pop girls that are currently untouchable anyway)

The funny thing about this "shade" is that pretty hurts it's a fugly song, the only skip on selftitled.

Yup it's 2023 and we all knew certain artists stole credits based on their name alone but claimed it's because of the adlibs and vocal runs 😂

Songwriting credit is for lyricists (not changing her->him or she->he) and composers (inventing notes and melodies, not doing gymnastics in vocals)

It's a great song. One of the very few songs in Ms. Knowles-Carter's discography with some LYRICAL DEPTH and that doesn't talk about relationships or how famous she is.

The only skip in BEYONCÉ is "Superpower"

I love Rihanna but this is not true, she takes writing credits for demos written by others

Credit =/= publishing, which is what Sia was talking about.

I can understand what she means, without namedropping some artists, it's many major A listed popstars who demands more publishing credit from other who actually did the whole work

First page of a random thread about Sia and people are already mentioning Taylor. She owns ATRL.

This is a thread about artists stealing songwriting credits even when they didn't contribute anything to the song. Bringing up Taylor is pretty much on topic :swan:

That sounds to me like she doesn't WRITE anything. She just tells them "I like that" / "I don't like that"

It reminds of what she does when she rearranges her music live. I remember that video where she told a pianist do "that" with the piano (didn't mention any notes, chords or anything) and the pianist did something and she said "like that."

For all intends and purposes, and knowing as much of Beyoncé as I know, she's NOT a songwriter (at least she hasn't been one for TWO decades). She's a producer. Whether you think she deserves a WRITING credit for helping produce these songs, it's up to you.

Producers make, mix, and put together the music with software, does she actually do that? Seems she’s just a singer who tells people what she likes and doesn’t like and then they produce it. I could be wrong as I don’t know everything about her
