At the end of the day, if you turn on the full quality on even an iphone 11, it will be more than enough to capture a nice shot. A digital camera will never replace a real camera but the algorithms they're implementing are starting to make it look more and more beautiful by the generation, but not for casual shots. Once they've implemented something to vividly capture real life bloom that's when they'll get my money. Until then I don't see the point (for the camera, anyway)

not really. and u will never, as an average user, be able to achieve these results anyway without extensive professional editing and other highly expensive equipment - so these videos honestly never impressed me

I don't think a music video is a good indicator because they will obviously try to make the camera look as good as possible. It's the real life use or testing in low light environments that usually shows if there's any improvement imo.

 

That being said, this is the first time I'm seeing the Olivia video and it looks amazing

Technically yes, but it’s not like the average user can film, edit and color correct like in the examples provided.

 

It’s cool they can achieve stuff like that, but it’s not like most other high level smartphones can’t provide a similar (if not the same) result.

All phone cameras suck and actually

have been getting worse as they implement more “smart” features (this goes for all phones, not just iPhones).  

 

Get a real camera!

And as someone with professional cameras and lenses: if you feel passionated about it invest it! Phone cameras are not seeing eye to eye yet with those. I still get my best shots with my canon and nikon

All “professionally” shot videos on iPhones look like ****. They will never replace the quality of studio cameras with proper lighting. And I don’t think anyone’s cared about camera quality since like 2016. Most people filter that shot anyways, and the visuals get distorted anyways when you post them to social media.

I don't think it's meant to replace a professional camera duh……but for content creators (tiktok, insta) that use their phone to make videos and take pictures it's more than enough.

iphones have insane sharpness attached via its ai when you take pics/videos i hate it. i think u can manually turn it off but honestly still irks me. the iphone 7 had a great smooth feel to it video-wise imo.

The Stupid Love video always looked bad. It was such a weird marketing ploy. It looks terrible quality.

I feel like the cameras on iPhone X are still good. There rly hasn't been huge changes since then (I think the only thing I like about new iPhones is the improvement of night shots). Other than that, I don't see a reason to upgrade every year. Just a waste of money.

It’s awful! All these “smart” photo algorithms are just making everyone’s photos look washed out and overexposed at some points, and then way too contrasty at others. You can get decent results (sometimes) if you try to bypass them by taking a picture on Snapchat, but then you aren’t even using the full resolution of the camera. It’s all dumb.

the upgrades this year were so minor. it's not even worth upgrading unless you've had your phone for more than 3 years. people will hardly notice any difference, especially with how compressed the resolution in videos and pictures are on social media
