Why hasn’t Christina Aguilera received the video vanguard award?

Recommended Posts

I love that Christina 'Multiple Grammies' Aguilera has the certain members of lambily slightly troubled. I mean like Mariah, she lacks a Video Vanguard Award, but I guess you knew that already. Not every artist can be a Madonna, Bowie or Nicki.

But you know what, I agree with you Mariah and Christina deserve to get it more than certain winners. If they did, certain members would combust from their bottled up delusions.

She didn’t keep up momentum. Justin, Britney, Pink and Beyoncé did.

Maybe if she had some kind of comeback era she could.

Most vocalist don’t. Whitney never got one. Mariah doesn’t have one in the US.  Celine doesn’t have one.

What would Whitney, Mariah, or Celine deserve a video vanguard for???

Xtina needs more iconic visuals, performances and songs and she'd be a contender.

If at least one of her eras in the 2010s worked she might have had an opportunity.

At this point, the Taylors, Katys, Brunos, Drakes, Biebers are likely up next for this decade.

I doubt she's interested in pay for that award.

Her videography from Genie to B2B is iconic tho and Your Body.

I think Christina has some really great videos. Usually the classic big voice divas didn't put much work into most of their music videos, which is not an insult or anything. Not everybody has the same approach to music.

Also creating threads to drag artists you don't like is pointless. This is the attitude that any fanbase hates when it is done to their fav. The best way to fight that, is to not act the same way.

I imagine she will get it once they run out of people over 40

You don’t have to be 40. Janet Jackson got hers at 24 lol

Exactly my point. Just like Whitney Mariah and Celine Christina was not a visual artist she is notorious for her VOCALS. So she would not get a video vanguard. Just like Adele doesn’t need one.

Whether you're a hater or not, Christina Aguilera definitely is long overdue for this award. She has "Dirrty" and "Lady Marmalade" under her belt along with "Candyman" and "Come On Over Baby" which all spawned iconic looks. That's more than I can say for some of the actual winners of the award.

And it's even more impressive because most vocalists have below average videographies, but Xtina served looks AND vocals. :clap3:

Michael Jackson, George Michael, Beyoncé and other vocalists have them.

put of the four vocalists you noted. Celine does not serve visuals. Mariah, Whitney and xtina do serve.

it’s just not enough. It’s giving mid.

in order of impact Mariah then Whitney then xtina then Celine (visuals and vocals).

She needs a comeback to music, a quick lil hit would be enough, or a well received comeback album

I agree with these.

They only seem to give it to older artists when they have a big comeback (Britney, Justin, Beyoncé, Nicki, Shakira), which makes sense as that would boost ratings as well as be a great way to give the artist their flowers. Either way, Xtina is deserving of it.

They don't give the video vanguard to everyone.

Having one (maybe 2?) good videos doesn't mean you get that award. None of her videos are iconic. Beautiful is her most popular video and that isn't enough for that award. And that video alone isn't even that good tbh :rip: No hate to Xtina, but it's true.

Xtina's iconic looks in "Dirrty" and "Lady Marmalade" are recreated every year by people and celebs themselves on Halloween. Uniconic where?

Meanwhile, I can't even name a single iconic JLo music video. Her most iconic look is the green dress which she wore on a red carpet.

Has Drake ever even made a music video?

You make a good point. The GP only knows IYHML, WFT and OTF from J. Lo. If Christina isn’t a contender because the GP only knows GIAB, WAGW, COO(AIWIY), LM, Dirrty, Beautiful, ANOM and Hurt…then why did J. Lo, Justin, Missy and P!nk deserve theirs? Christina was literally the second biggest video artist at one point in time which was HUGE.

Well, she's not a legend to receive that award.

This is false.

I mean, I prefer Britney over Xtina since ever, but it's time to move on... you just should be objective, she has a lot of good MVs.

Beautiful, Dirrty, Candyman, Ain't No Other Man, Hurt, Can't Hold Us Down is pretty iconic too, Genie was a defyning moment, Lady Marmelade...

she's isn't just that famous anymore, but she deserved it before Nicki Minaj for example. Maybe if she wants it she should pay for it, but I don't think she even care

@Mr. Stratus @5:41 Hommie even knows Grammys mean nothing, the good sis just won a Latin Grammy for an album that made zero impact despite being packed with popular Latin artists :rip:

Having said that, Xtina does have impactful videos, Beautiful is arguably the best she's ever done alongside Hurt, the problem is, that her videography falls short in comparison to her peers and artists that debuted after her, so there's always going to be someone more deserving of her and that's unfortunate because she does have great videos, especially the videos from her first three English eras.

she looks pretty, shes aged well

Listen, im really not sure on the latin grammys - im not the biggest fan of xtina, but i dont think not having a VMA vanguard is really meaningful :toofunny3:.

VMAs are kinda just there now, and Xtina has GF grammy. she didn't really have a long career and she only has 2/3 memorable MVs. I don't think she will lose sleep over things like VMAs just cause ATRL is championing them atm

I don’t think the Vanguard award is what it used to be but honestly, neither are the Grammys. All my favs are Grammy award winners and the success of their careers had nothing to do with the numbers of Grammys they’ve won. It relied solely on the support of the huge fanbases, love from the general public and iconic moments through out their careers, respectively.

Just to clarify - this is not a hate thread. I genuinely love the Dirrty video and Beautiful as well.

I guess people assumed I was being shady, but she should get the award over a lot of the people who have already received it.

Your Body video was so camp. I wish she would’ve promoted the song more. Such a bop :katie2:

She does not have any kind of longevity to sustain her career to get this award.
