I don’t see how Christina is any less deserving than Justin Timberlake and P!nk. Christina’s videos actually made a splash even if there were surprisingly few back in the day.

Having one (maybe 2?) good videos doesn't mean you get that award. None of her videos are iconic. Beautiful is her most popular video and that isn't enough for that award. And that video alone isn't even that good tbh  No hate to Xtina, but it's true.

She’s not relevant musically and hasn’t been for a long time. 
 

P!nk is lowkey kinda lucky she was able to nab one right before she became irrelevant musically. 
 

There’s exceptions to the rule in this regard (Missy Elliot, but she was so insanely overdue MTV was basically forced to give it to her) but she doesn’t really have that many memorable videos to begin with?

She definitely deserves it (if some others have taken it)

I think she could've taken it in some previous years..but Award shows are at a fight for relevancy, so they are looking for artists that can drive the ratings up (and overall just bring good rep to the show)

 

Could've won it some time after Rihanna (since that's when they started giving it to acts who weren't near their true success anymore)

but JLo had huge PR drive,P!nk was coming finally starting a new era for hers..and I feel it was between her and Missy at one point (the later has Huge respect in the industry)

then COVID came and they started introducing new types of awards (cuz fans and probably the show, felt like they were starting to just want to give out the award to anybody atp)

((also, not sure but I think I remember there were talks about X receiving an award at that time? but it falling apart??))

 

So..I don't know if her chance is totally gone? But I see it for her, still being able to snatch it..

Or at least another special type of award? (since they seem to be doing that now) - Icon Award would be fitting for her imo..

Looking at yesterday's show, the VMA's wouldn't lose anything if they gave it to her while giving the Vanguard to someone else..2 Medleys is a Win Win situation

(I guess depending on how many acts want to perform that night tho..)

Christina hasn't attended a vma since like 2008 I doubt she cares anymore. Hell she barely even attends the grammys even when she wins the award. 

The vmas don't mean sh1t anymore and it's only watched by middle aged gays with receiding hairlines.. it would have been nice back in like 2012/2013, but that award show is so meaningless now that it doesn't even matter at this point. I rather her just keep trying to rack up more grammys like she usually does.

Sis, calm your horse, from what I read in this thread each and every replies here was nice towards xtina, and all agreed that she should have one, including me.

 

You need to stop having nasty, hateful attitude towards Britney thread or in any other thread, it ain't nice, if anything seek help in real life.

Xtina literally was a force on MTV and TRL, on top of actually showing growth and evolution in her music videos.

 

Genie in A Bottle, Come On Over, Dirrty, Fighter, Beautiful, Can't Hold Us Down, Candyman, Hurt, Your Body are all amazing music videos.

 

It seems like her and MTV haven't been on good terms so maybe that's why.

Nothing that Christina has done in her short-lived career was memorable or really worthy of giving honors like this (even tho the video vanguard award is by far the most meaningless award in music)

She was never as big or as impactful as her 3 remaining fans would have us think all those years. I always think the highlight of her career was being compared to Britney Spears even though she can't compete with her in sales, awards, certifications, videography, fame, tours or anything.
