It seems like all of Xtina’s contemporaries are getting the award, but she still hasn’t.

 

Dirrty and Beautiful are pretty iconic videos. Does she deserve the award? Should she be next in line?

 

EDIT: This is not an anti-Xtina thread. I genuinely think she is a contender for the award. I have no idea why people assume I’m being shady.

Maybe if she had some kind of comeback era she could.

 

Most vocalist don’t. Whitney never got one. Mariah doesn’t have one in the US.  Celine doesn’t have one.

I agree with you but I think (even though the VMAs haven't) they should finish giving the award to those from the late 90s/early-mid 2000s who deserve it before moving on to the current generation. Gaga and Katy should be first in line when that happens

She doesn't have the longevity for getting the award. It's a TV show after all and they need ratings. Nobody in 2023 is going to care about Christina Aguilera getting a Vanguard Award, unfortunately.

Terrible videography. She has one moderately famous video (Beautiful) and that’s about it.
 

I also think the VMAs want to award artists that are popular/famous.
