They were clearly gonna give her a higher score and it becomes evident reading the review. This is the maximum score they could give without the album being BNM.

It's crazy but if it was a popstar they would take in consideration their behaviour and what they say online……..They are such hypocrites

The gag is they barely talk about the actual songs on the album :dies:

they’ve given 8.2 scores BNM numerous times, the score could be the same, just without the BNM tag

i appreciate them acknowledging the context this album is being released in. yes, this is the best album of her career (mostly thanks to DJ Koze) but it’s incredibly hard to actually enjoy it.

A good score and still subjective. The reception to this album honestly makes me very optimistic about music journalism lol. The controversy around this album is completely warranted and Roisin was rightfully taken to task but the album is impeccable and to pretend otherwise would be an L for any publication.

The objectivity with which music publications have approached this album should be studied by aspiring journalists. This is a perfect way to review a piece of art on it's merits while also acknowledging the uncomfortable conversations surrounding the artist and how they may sour public opinion and personal goodwill.

Agree, if they had panned her just because it would’ve been ridiculous.

I personally won’t be listening to the album as she remains trash but still, reviewers need to be objective.

Just don't review it, lol. It's not that hard. Pathetic hacks.

True that would be better but they already praised her songs before the mess

how is that fair journalism? this is like the second most talked about release of the entire week. they cant just brush it under the rug because of her statements.

im glad that pitchfork decided to rate it fairly. that is just good journalism on their behalf.

I do think the score would've been higher and the review definitely reads as if it is. The Guardian's review was the definitive summation of this album's release though, I don't think the Pitchfork staff have been particularly insightful or worth reading lately.

I didn’t expect Laura Snapes to snap like that but that review was fantastic

We don't give a F+CK. Enough with giving transphobes more attention than they actuallly deserve. She can burn in hell or whatever.

This is true. Pitchfork aren’t obliged to review everything. Indeed, they skip many albums. Roisin isn’t an A-lister so missing her album wouldn’t have made many waves lol.

I'm glad they showed a bit of professionalism. You can drag her for the comments separately, but the album is undeniably great and the review/score should reflect that :michael:
