Whenever I tried to help someone land a job, or get a raise, or be chosen for a promotion it always backfired on me and the person I helped wasn't even grateful. I don't do anything like that anymore, we can do all of our processes by the book and that's it. As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. 1
