Did Shakira's "Empire" deserve better?

"Empire" was released in 2014 as the second single off Shakira's self-titled album, following "Can't Remember To Forget You" with Rihanna.

The song was a commercial failure for Shakira. Did it deserve more? Let's discuss.

No. Isn't it like a copy of an Alanis Morrisette song. To me it sounds like a bad pop version of Uninvited.

The song was good, but her first live performances with her lip syncing to the song esp on the voice made people react negatively to it. She should have definitely released you don't care about me.

Yes !

the prerecorded chorus and then the live voice it was just all over.

although she did have one good performance of it on UK’s THE VOICE

after that it was all messy performances. The song itself was her best rock song in a long time. decent success, but not a global smash as she was expecting. It sold a million copies in the u.s. that’s not bad at all

It sounds more like Adele's Skyfall

I had already forgotten it. It's a very good song, but we already know that gringos don't like her music in English.

Yes, it deserves all the smashing.

I was so frustrated at the tasteless GP for making it flop.

I heart radio awards was fully live besides the oooos in the chorus. What I think that was the best performance.

Cut me deep should have a single magic was smashing at the time such a missed opportunity.

At first listen, I thought it paled in comparison to CRTFY, but I found appreciation to it over the years
