Trent W Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Taylor is going to end up being the biggest female artist of all time in a few years and maybe overall some day too. While she’s extremely talented and an excellent song writer, one of the biggest reasons I think she has gone so far is her image. She has never sexualized her image, nearly all the girls in mainstream go through that sexual era phase or keep their content very sexual, she has kept herself on brand and always accessible to the next generation of teens while her lyrics mature for the older ones. She’s nearly 20 years into her career and she’s the biggest artists for millennials, gen z and probably gen alpha too. Do you think that this is one of the main reasons why she conquers one generation after the other?
Popular Post EmailMySwift Posted September 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2023 She doesn't need to sexualize her image because her main draw as an artist is her brain and her wit. 10 2 6 3
Popular Post Badgalbriel Posted September 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2023 Yes. God, I'm so tired of reading this girl's name already. Can't stand every discussion on the internet being about her anymore. 2 1 14
blueberries Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 (edited) Yes. Relying on sex and shock factor too much has an expiration date. Edited September 7, 2023 by blueberries 4

Tbh Yesterday I opened this forum and nearly 90% of the threads were about Taylor But I think this point hasn’t been properly discussed Edited September 7, 2023 by Trent W 1
Popular Post Klein Posted September 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 7, 2023 (edited) Madonna is still to this day the very biggest female artist ever and like top 5 of all time with men included and she was proud and loud about her sexuality/sensuality. I don't think being a sex symbol or not has much impact on how far a female artist's career can go, especially compared to the main factor: the music itself. Edited September 7, 2023 by Klein 17 1
Dula Peep Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 no, our country at least has regressed so much socially in the last few years which is why they are championing her non-sexuality 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Taylor doesn't have to sexualize herself for fame.

Imo it closes doors, especially of parents that control what their kids listen to. Britney’s decline from BOMT/Oops to Britney/ITZ commercially is the best example of this. I don’t think is the main reason why she’s so big, but obviously her accessibility helps a lot.
LittleStarmen Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 yes coz she can still appeal to 5yolds 1
naval23 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 She's big for 10 other reasons and deservedly so

And yet she's like the 7th or 8th biggest female artist ever. Rihanna going from AGLM -> GGGB is also a counter example. If being sexualized had any significant drawbacks for pop artists, in wouldn't be the "norm". 1
Fleahive Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 There's nothing sexy about her so idk why people are acting like she's above it. People used to say the same thing about Adele. Who wants to see Adele in bra and panties? 1 4 4
Gorjesspazze9 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Don’t know what the correlation of being a Sex Symbol has to do with being a big star
FENTY. Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Well tbh she’s kinda cringe in I Don’t Wanna Live Forever video so it’s understandable 2 4

People forget that at the end of the day your image can yes, do damage but people will always be back to streaming you if the music is good
ScubaDive Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Don't yall get tired of talking about Taylor Swift all the time
thismoment Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Tbh she can’t really pull it off, so it’s better to stay in your lane sometimes 2
shyboi Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 maybe she would be even bigger? If that's possible
Pheromosa Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 she definitely uses her looks to her advantage, not overtly sexual but come on 1
Punky Rooster Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 It’s being safe and relatable, playing up the “aw shucks” factor, being daggy, and having music that doesn’t diverge too much from one particular radio friendly sound. She stays firmly in her lane and will never take risks again like she did slightly with Reputation. If she does that forever, her audience of primarily straight white women will be with her until the end of time. 3
KillingYourCareer Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 I wouldn't say that's a factor, she's still pretty much an unreachable beauty for most. Tall skinny blonde blue-eyed lady who looks straight out of a fairytale. 1
liam13 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 not gay men talking about female sexiness maybe to yall, taylors not sexy but to a lot of straight men, she is. i thought gay men should know better about personal preferences but well OT: she doesnt need to be one, she has a pretty face and knows how to write a good song or two 2 1 2
ForgottenSoul Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Dont think it actually really matters but I do think it was some of her appeal like she had a lot of younger girl fans who might have been more turned off if she was very sexual? I do think now days if she did want to do something a bit more sexual her fans wouldnt care.
