Just a Gay on ATRL Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Talk about a mic drop performance. I think this is my favorite Oscar performance ever. 7 2
Abracadabra Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) Yeah this moment basically redefined her career. Even just the way she was spoken about and regarded in media changed significantly overnight, especially coming just after the Artpop era. ASIB also was a career re-defining moment for her, but you can trace back the huge wave of respect she gained from the GP and the media to this performance. Edited September 4, 2023 by Miichael

Miss Show Business Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) I knew it would be this performance. I remember how surprised everyone was by this performance. Everyone's memories of Gaga up till that point were the theatrics from the Artpop era and her fashion moments. This changed that for sure. Edited September 4, 2023 by Miss Show Business
Infernal Paradise Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 But wow, what a moment. I'll never forget. 6
Shimenawa Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 That is when her pop career truly ended and the begining of a new one
Sheep Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) There's only one of Gaga's peers who could pull this off vocally. She's a once in a generation talent. This opened the door for her to march into any corner of the entertainment industry and be respected by the establishment. Edited September 4, 2023 by Century 1

nadiamendell Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) The fact that we don't have a full HD version of this performance on YouTube including Julie Andrews's praise afterwards is a CRIME. Edited September 4, 2023 by nadiamendell
Phaunzie Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 So the death of Gaga and the birth of Stefani the artist/singer. While it may seem triumphant for some, it is where she lost her zanyness. She became boring after this performance. 1 7
Matthew4815 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 I knew it would be this performance. A show stopper!

Aston Martin Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 I love the shot at the end of Bradley giving her a standing ovation. Little did he know that he'd be getting his own memorable Oscar performance with her four years later
babyforlife Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 to this day, this still my favorite gaga's performance of all time

Darkgalord Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Yup. Singing the national anthem garnered her lots of acclaim as well.
Jjang Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Meh. I prefer her soft rock covers. the faux accent, the forced semi operatic approach…bleh. Sondheim was right for calling it terrible.
