The song feels so flat to me like it feels like it's gonna explode but it never happens  and the instrumental is trash too.  and Cardi's voice is really off-putting at some parts

Idk. Listening to Cardi rap just makes you feel really dumb as hell. The bars and IQ lack. Megan ate it up but that was to be expected, same situation as WAP. And she looked amazing at the pool with the dancers. Overall the song is a bit obnoxious but the ‘bong bong’ will go off in the clubs.

Do female rappers have nothing to talk about but their beep & shake their beep. It’s exhausting! The lyrics are so cringe and stupid! It’s like you have to dumb yourself down to enjoy this song.

Video is incredible! They both annihilated. 

 

Though the pedantic person in me can't unsee the fact that the set is the exact set from Beyonce's Mood 4 Eva. I like to imagine videos as their own thing.

 

The song is polarizing. Even to me. It has good corners (the "Bong, bong, bong" throughline and Megan's everything), but it pains me to say that Cardi was a lil underwhelming.

 

Just saw in an interview that she said the beat was a challenge for her...and I can hear it. While Meg felt like she rode it was ease, Cardi sounded like she was sprinting to catch it. As a result, her verses sound as such. It's not so much her lyrics. They are fine. But the delivery. I wanted to hear more inflection, more characters, more umph. Instead, she kinda shouts all the way through. 

 

At this point, I'm simply willing both ladies a hit. Which I think this will be, even if it's minor.

 

I've also been here with Cardi before, as someone who **initially** felt WAP was made by its video and really didn't work as well standalone. I now love it. Similarly, I **initially** copped to Up being catchy, but kinda felt it was lyrically just a bunch of jargon. I now love that too. 

 

Will be really interesting to see if the interplay between video, radio, and live performances (?) cements this as a mass-liked hit. I hope so.
