Sorry, I just need to see you
I'm sorry I'm so clingy I don't me to be a lot
Do you really wanna love me down like you say you do?
Give it to me like you say you do?

'Cause it's hard enough you got to treat me like this
Lonely enough to let you treat me like this
Do you really love me?
Or just wanna love me down, down, down?

Drew Barrymore and it’s literally not even close. Not a single song on SOS comes close to DB or half of the CTRL album

The structure of the song is a bit corny tbh

But being one of the worsts on SOS still stomps the bests of the other girls’ albums

Those are two of my faves. :jonny:

I think I’d go with Drew because I love how it starts.

I like Gone Girl but Drew Barrymore is one of her best songs of her whole catalog.

people really need to get over the ctrl superiority train tbh. yes, its a classic and yes its more cohesive but SOS is more mature and displays more diversity in both content and soundscape.

Good Days alone is more transcendent and timeless than anything off CTRL.

i hate u > the weekend

forgiveless > wavy/anything

far = broken clocks

open arms > pretty little bird

blind = normal girl

but then

supermodel > sos

doves >= low

love galore > shirt

20 something > special

dont ask my ADHD brain why I place these songs together but to me the quality of both records is very much balanced. I wholeheartedly believe theres not a single bad song on either album.

I mean both albums are great but nothing SZA ever does will compete with CTRL for me. The songwriting is just so good. SOS is lacking that confessional, diaristic storytelling which I love, but I get why some people prefer it.

idk there’s something very angsty about it while Gone Girl is much more about grueling self reflection. I love both but GG (to me) has a more powerful sentiment at the end of the day.

I think I love the angstiness of the song as she portrays her insecurities in some of the lyrics, which makes me think that it’s a less realized song actually, but I think it just reaches more emotions that GG doesn’t reach.

that angst and pettiness played a huge role in shaping and attracting SZA’s core audience to begin with don’t get me wrong. I think it’s a brilliant record.

but today, in 2023, GG just feels like the more “relevant” sentiment to me I guess. I also love the movie reference and how it ties to the theme of love and violence that’s evident throughout the entire album.

I think voting to either song is valid, I’m just pressed GG (and SOS in general) feel unnecessarily underrated here. both serve quality as SZA is a fantastic songwriter.
