I was a huge fan, but they made some CHOICES in s3 and I kinda get it/think it ended somewhat conclusively.

Bummer think it would have been cool to see one more with her as a solo ruler, but yeah other than a few threads they left hanging, it works okay as a series finale. Def saw it coming, there was like no noise for season 3.

Wtf???? Was it doing that bad in terms of viewership? I know there was some negative reaction after that event in Season 3, but I didn't think it was enough to tank the show. Ugh :spin:

Oh well at least both the leads are free to do other things, as I remember both actors talking about losing out on some roles because of their commitment on the show.

considering the acclaim and avid fanbase this show had this feels very... inspired by the strikes.

I never heard any chatter about this show so not surprised.

Oh nooo. I haven't watched the most recent season, but I really enjoy Holt and Fanning together

I’m about to end it all.

WHAT?? NO!!! :(

The show was good and deserved a final season

Many shows on the floppier side will probably get canceled due to strikes.

i think season 3 was a good conclusion. it's a fantastic show and my favorite period drama in the last 10 years. ever since Downton Abbey actually. these shows are so hard to get right but they did it in their own quirky/hilarious way. :clap3:

and like @WildAmerican said, they made some bold choices in that season that clearly indicated that they knew it was gonna be the last season.

What happened in Season 3 that was so controversial?

NIcholas Hoult's character, Peter The Great died. He was probably the best (or 2nd best after Catherine) of the show.

Unfortunate as I enjoyed it, but this always read as a show whose chances for a next season would hinge on Emmy nominations if the viewership wasn't popping off. They did well with S2, but both Elle and Nicholas were snubbed this year so I was kind of expecting this

Spoiler

In reality he died within a week of being captured. :skull: At least in the show they kept him around for much longer. I don't understand people's issue tbh.

Oh booooooo!!!!!!!!!!  But after the way things unfolded this last season, I kinda had no clue where they'd go next tbh.

I'm not surprised but I did really love the show/would love more, the ending scene though is kinda perfect for me as an ending though, if you haven't seen the show would highly recommend :heart2:

I guess they saw it coming considering how the last season went down. Sad news nonetheless.

Ugh. Where else can I see Nicholas Hoult's bare bum? :cries:

It was incredibly acclaimed and being in TV-heavy circles on sites like GoldDerby I heard from a lot of viewers who felt strongly about it, however it had pretty low viewership and abysmal numbers across TV tracking platforms so it seems like it was more of an industry-bubble thing with little recognition from the GP

I lost interest a couple episodes into season 3. Didn’t feel like the plot was developing at all, and the humor became too low brow.
