That user doesn't think climate change is real, hates trans people, and said they want the state of California to physically round up the homeless. :rip:

Sounds like the Canadian government made the advisory against HIM :bibliahh:

U.S. centrists and centre-left liberals are SO quick to tell on themselves as being only slightly better than conservatives the second a non-American dares to criticize the U.S. :toofunny2: The same people on the first page who are acting like Canada is just as bad or worse as the U.S. on social issues (which is so incredibly delusional it's actually laughable) are probably the same people who make small talk with their friends about how mean and terrible Trump and DeSantis are so that they feel "politically engaged" and "on the right side of history." But god forbid a non-American point out how regressive and backwards U.S. social politics is right now, and suddenly the U.S. is preferable to other countries and everyone else is secretly worse.

Canada is FAR from a perfect country and there's progress it still needs to make, but to act like it's anywhere close to the U.S. in resentment towards LGBTQ+ people is pure delusion. Even the most conservative provinces in Canada are better on LGBTQ+ issues than most "moderate conservative" states in the U.S, let alone the extreme right-wing ones. And the reason why the U.S. keeps slipping backwards instead of forwards is because half the country wants to move backwards while the other half doesn't want to move backwards but also gets offended and defensive the second anyone else tries to point out that they're moving backwards.

Petty political jab between governments. The US remains by far one of the most safe and protective places on earth for LGBT people.

As a Canadian I am literally offended at half the comments in here. The patriotism in the United States is too powerful I suppose :biblio: Y’all can enjoy your lack of gun control and government officials trying to pass laws that treat the lgbtq like they don’t exist. Go ahead and defend that all you want. “That’s not my state” or “all the states aren’t the same” be damned. That’s your country.

We don’t pretend we’re better than anybody - though based on many of these comments Americans sure act like they are. The irony. There’s a reason most first world countries around the globe side eye the US. I’ll leave it at that :coffee:

It’s always a kii to see countries with a less diverse population smaller than one of our states, scold a nation of 400 million people and 50 separate governments for not being universally perfect on all progressive issues.

It’s always a kii when people completely spin the narrative in an attempt to drag. The point my post was trying to make was how silly it is to be more offended that our country issued a (VALID) safety advisory on your country just because it “doesn’t apply to me and my area” instead of being embarrassed on behalf of the other people in your country that are the reason for that advisory, and doing more to make a difference. But it’s ok - throw stones at the smaller nations as if that will do anything to help your situation

This is a weird framing - do you suggest America being only 62% white in comparison to Canada being only 67% white is materially so different that the impact on social cohesion with regards to LGBTQ rights is tangible w/ evidence?

Sadly it’s not as big a kii as your condescending response to peoples’ real (and founded) fears.

You’re assuming I only meant racial diversity when I said “diverse.” And the most recent numbers I could find have non Hispanic whites at 59% for US and 69% for Canada.

You diversity statistics would be more impactful if your country wasn't one of the most violently racist developed nations on the planet, but go ahead and keep trying!
