As they should. The Human Rights Campaign has already issued a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ people in this country. The hate crimes towards LGBTQ+ people has gotten even worse since Trump became President and it continues to go up, unfortunately.

What does this mean?  This is why I use the word queer.  I can't keep up with the evolving letter (and apparently number?) chain.

girl, you better be careful. some people find saying queer offensive too :rip:

not some of these americans getting offended by this:rip: based on what the world sees in the news, y'all are going backwards with LGBTQ laws, and homophobia seems to be rampant amongst a lot of states

what the actual hell is this

Can we all start using the 2S in front of LGBTQIA+? I just read about it and I think it would be respectful.

most people don't even add the QIA+ to LGBT. it's getting very long and confusing for people who don't pay attention to labels like this.

it is mainly an Indigenous/Native American thing. touchy subject in Canada, so it's not surprising they would be careful to include Native identities here.

I'm not surprised. I live in Indiana, and while I'm lucky that I live close enough to the city that I don't ever feel totally unsafe, I've still encountered a ton of hateful and vitriolic people. Obviously these people exist anywhere, but I'd love to live in a more blue area where I can feel a little more comfortable being more open about my sexuality, and surround myself with accepting, like-minded people. I'll probably move to somewhere more liberal and queer-friendly early next year.

People mocking Alberta :rip:

They may be less liberal than other provinces but in the end it's nothing compared to middle America.

Alberta like most of Canada has anti homophobia legislations.

And why would we care about them?

OT: not the American girlies getting offended :deadbanana4: this is just the state of your country. All my American friends over here are literally scared to go back because they say it’s a hellhole. Europe is far, far from perfect but they say the standard of living here is much better

Nobody wants to move to Canada, that was just a reactionary thing people said they’d do as a joke.

As a European - Canada is miles above the US in their progressive policies and protections for minority and marginalised populations. The delusion from Americans in here. Your country is one of the worst country’s to live in.

Americans have a really hard time accepting the stone cold fact that the United States is one of the least desirable developed countries to live in at this point, and that most people think its a sad sh*thole run by fascists and religious nuts.

The first five things that come to mind for most people in the world when they hear the word America are without a doubt:

1. Guns

2. Racism

3. Trump and/or the Alt Right

4. Fast Food

5. Homophobia/Transphobia

Sounds like a real f*ckin paradise :coffee:

Honestly the US is one of the world countries to visit and live. It’s a failed state, I do feel bad for LGBTQ people living in that hellhole. Perhaps they can seek asylum somewhere safer.

I don't honestly see a gay guy visiting from Canada to Mississippi or Alabama anyways so it's a moot point.  Besides, I don't believe it's as bad as TikTok and IG make you believe.  It's the loud minority going viral which makes you believe half the country hates you.  They don't.  And they won't win the election, either.  The independents and GenZ will make sure of that.  Not every Republican is MAGA.  The rest are ok with you, they just want less taxes and less spending.

100% fact. I’d rather live in any other developed country than the US. It would be my last choice.
