I’m doing this question in 2 parts: first one which one of them was the better Avatar as a person/or as a character and the second one is which of the shows was better in your opinion.

The one that learned 3 elements in a few months and invented energybending.

Korra is a gay icon but she ****** up the whole avatar cycle both in the show and also in real life by flopping.

Korra is the better avatar

LOK is also the better show.
ATLA is for kids, LOK has more mature themes and plots

TLA was fun one of my fav shows but LoK had much more depth and was overall just better tbh. I wish they'd make more seasons.

Aang is like the ideal main character. I prefer Korra’s development and overall personality though

I love Korra but for a “more mature” themed show the characters sure do like to act immature sometimes, even more so than the kids.

Aang is the better Avatar. Korra is a more interesting and complex character.

TLA is the superior show… by FAR

Well the main characters are in their teen years till season 3, so it makes sense that they’re a little immature at times but LoK still has more depth than Atla imo.
Both great tho :clap3:

The One who was only 12 and mastered the elements and saved the world, and actually brought peace to the nations. Unlike the one who ruin the entire avatar cycle and mythos:rip:

I prefer Korra as an Avatar, but ATLA as a show is a lot more focused (which is understandable when you know the background TLOK faced)

I can't ******* stand Korra as a protagonist

It's literally part of the reason why it took me years to finish TLoK

Korra is a more interesting character imo and had to deal with much more challenging enemies and obstacles than Aang.

The Last Airbender is the superior show though, it's much better structured, paced and overall laid out, and the way Zuko (and Iroh) and Azula were woven into the story was incredibly well done. This being said, I appreciate that Korra wasn't just another classic "good vs. evil" story and that they instead decided to deal with more (also morally) complex and unexpected themes than in the original, and also that they weren't afraid to show us Korra failing in multiple aspects of her role as the Avatar.

Dropped Korra during season 2, Korra was a bit unlikeable.

ATLA remains loved and instantly rewatchable.

Aang was a pure kid with very strong beliefs. He cared so much about all living things. He was even a vegetarian.
He had internal conflicts when he refused to kill Ozai or grieving the massacre of his entire people. To say he isn’t “complex” make no sense :rip:

Every character on the show had their own struggles & complexities.

From the time we see them on their respective shows, Korra is the better Avatar. But there’s a huge chunk of their life that we don’t see from either so we don’t have a definitive answer for which one is better.

For the shows, ATLA really is that girl for Books 2 and 3 but book 1 is very slow paced. Which I’m not complaining about, just a fact.

Korra season 3 is very good and is equally as great as the ATLA series (maybe better). Season 4 is good too, season 1 is a good standalone series, and season 2 is, yes, it gets messy and choices were made.

But at the end of the day, I don’t hold any of Aang’s or Korra’s decisions against them. They each developed and coped differently, Korra’s decisions just happened to have more severe consequences to the Avatar cycle. But perhaps she was the Avatar needed at this time to do the least damage.

Both Aang and Korra were born in opposite timelines for a reason.

‘“Aang - A peacemaker in a world that needed a fighter
Korra- A fighter in a world that needed a peacemaker”

You can say Aang could take on Korra’s challenges or vice versa but then we wouldn’t have a show or growth.

As shows, ATLA is more consistent. It starts a bit shaky with season 1 but progressively gets better and better and really turns into something incredible by the end. TLOK is too all over the place.

In a vacuum, Korra is probably the more interesting character but the rest of the cast isn’t nearly as dynamic / fun to watch. Aang is a fine protagonist but the dynamic between Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph is what really makes the show.
