Taylor Swift - ME! (Solo Demo)

L-worded. This version doesn’t have a new 2nd verse or bridge, just instrumental over those parts.

I don't get why people hate this song, it's so positive and fun

Only slightly less awful :heart2:

I mean, anyone could've edit this... but then again, I don't think she recorded this as a solo track, since Brandon has songwriting credits.

Her choosing this as a lead single after Reputation or even putting it out into the world as a non-soundtrack song will never cease to baffle me.

I mean anyone could but it wouldn’t sound this good without an official instrumental or stems (which were never released officially or l-worded) so I think it’s the demo before she chose Brendon as the feature.

I always laugh at the transition in Miss Americana where she is sad rep got no Grammy noms and states she will release a better album and it cuts to her recording Me!

the way she snubs Cruel Summer while pulling all the tricks for ME! was really questionable behavior :deadbanana2:

I still think it was a soundtrack for some child-pets cartoon.

In the worst way :rip:

This song should’ve stayed locked in her imagination. Nobody would ever be caught serenading this to anyone in real life. This is assassination of your love/crush life.

releasing this song as a lead single could’ve been career killing for any other pop girl :rip:

I think it  briefly/temporarily hurt her career a little tbh. She was too big and established to downright kill her career in 2019, but in 2019, she was not the force she is today.  Like, still bigger than every other popstar comparatively, but the cracks were showing a little more in 2019 than ever before imo.

Lover was her first album since Fearless to not open with over 1M in sales and both ME! & YNTCD performed noticeably worse than her leads from other eras. I think starting Lover off w/ ME! really briefly made people a little more judgmental about the album. That's why it's so interesting the album is slaying 4 years later & becoming one of her biggest eras ever. Seems like once other songs started to get people's attention like CS & the title track, they listened to the whole rest of the album & liked it.

She obviously turned her perception around fully w/ Folklore, Evermore & Midnights, which made people re-visit her entire discography in more volume again too.

It's clear she wanted a big contrast from reputation both in sound and image but ig she went a little bit off board with it :rip:

you're right, but let's not forget there's AI available everywhere now and we have some kind of stems from the dolbyatmos mix, so, it's never impossible

but since RorD confirmed, then yeah...

I think if she had kept the song as slow and less glittery as this demo it would be a bit better. too bad she didn't record this solo btw

I’m surprised a demo version of this hasn’t appeared when she wrote it when she was 7.
