Is ‘13 Reasons Why’ the worst tv show of all time?

I can’t think of a worst tv show. It’s not only BAD and BORING, and dragged unnecessarily for too many seasons, but it has been proven to be harmul due to its glorifying of suicide and metal illness. It’s a very harmful portrayal of depression, suicide, sexual assault and other very real issues. It simplifies suicide as a way to solve problems.

The study stated that “13 Reasons Why” was “associated with a 28.9% increase in suicide rates among U.S. youth ages 10-17 in the month (April 2017) following the show’s release, after accounting for ongoing trends in suicide rates.”

Everyone involved on this mess should be ashamed tbh

No. The first season was good, second season was OK and I didn't bother with the third season because it should have only been one season.

There are way worse shows out there. Why did you bother to watch all 3 seasons if it was so terrible? :rip:

Yes.

I only watched the first season when I was in highschool and I had no idea it even had a third season :rip:

Not at all :rip: S1 was pretty good, but it declined as it went on like most shows.

And this narrative of "glorifying suicide" or contributing to suicide increases is absolutely ridiculous.

the fact the character hannah baker commited sewercide was harmful for the youth to see. the show made it seem like those are valid reasonings for suicide and helped normalize it, without often showcasing adequate information about treatment. It definitely did not help the mental health crisis in its favor. but the show was alright

Season 1 was amazing.

Season 2 was ok.

Everything else was bad and horrible choices and writing.

But LETS NOT act like season 1 wasnt the best television in a while, it had everyone shook and showed the real sh*t teens go through.

I feel like these "studies" are the same as the ones saying video games contribute to violence and gun crime.

There's worse shows out there, but 13RW definitely declined after season 1.

It's an ok show. Not the best but faaaaar from the worst. It was entertaining :cm:

First season was interesting. Though if you saw someone get raped, would you then go to their house party? Hmm, there was a lot of stupid moments in that show.

Yes, I have so much to say about that show tbh..

If you watch the show you notice the tone and the dialogues are targeting kids, no adult would watch it seriously because it is very juvenile, on the other hand, the graphic content is absolutely inappropriate for kids, the rape scene with the broom is something unforgettable for me.

Also, the show's goal is to raise awareness for topics such as rape, yet the main rapist of the show is given so much screen time, the fact that they decided to give the rapist so much room to show his emotion, his regret, his sadness (which only emerged after the rape episodes came to light), literally sick and twisted.

Uhm, did you forget that she was raped? And there's no such thing as a valid or invalid reason for a person to commit suicide. Only the person knows how that particular event or trigger effects their mental health, and to dismiss or not take them seriously is not a helpful attitude at all.

S1 literally had everyone on choke. It was a global phenomenon for the first month or so.

I agree it did less good than bad, but S1 was very well written, the cast’s acting was great as well, and even tho the storyline had several things that should’ve been addressed and handled differently, it was very well done IMO.

S2 was okay(?) but the finale building up to the shooting… PHEWWWW :jonny5:

S3 was bland and S4 was completely unnecessary.

Is there a valid reason to commit suicide?

Isn't that something personal? Who are you to doubt about why people commit suicide?

No :rip: S1 & S2 were good, the two others are useless (I didn’t watch S4) but you are reaching, especially with shows like Riverdale out there

Disgusting, I can’t believe some people liked this comment, it never was about « having good reasons » to begin with :biblio:

S1 had me gagged, S2 had me sleeping, and S3 had me turn it off. That new narrator they brought in truly was terrible.

WAIT I low key loved this show and all it’s atrl-style inserts in between every other sentence

“How did you hear me? I made less noise than a Rita Ora single”

“I missed the 3 day deadline - gays can’t do math”

“Flop? I’m triple platinum like teenage dream”
