British terfs have managed to get #IStandWithRoisinMurphy to trend on Twitter. I hope she knows the crowd she is now firmly aligned with will never stream her music or come to her shows :rip:

Yeah. They aren’t going to be going to her concerts or streaming her music. Same thing happened when Mary Gray came out as a TERF. It did nothing for her flop career. It’s all performative solidarity. Róisín is going to suffer commercially too.

“Feminist” Terfs will “stand” with the most violent misogynists if they say something transphobic. Zero morals. Just hatred.

Wow! I don't agree with her, and trans rights matter.. but after 3 years of working on this (acclaimed if this did not happen) album, which is also a baby of the great DJ Koze who worked on the production separately during the lockdown, she is going to get canceled because of the controversial one sentence response about a very controversial topic on Facebook? Has anyone tried to talk to her and educate about the topic instead? Are you all going to cancel your conservative (grand)parents who probably don't even support gay marriage, let alone trans people? What about artists who never talk about politics at all?

Why are people who are not trans so obsessed with this topic? It’s so weird how much time and energy they invest in people they barely know. Mind your own life for once.

Short answer (paraphrasing Leeja Miller): It's about the alt-right weaponizing fear and disinformation among the electorate to win votes and increase their social and political power.

So supporting trans people equates to completely blocking people who sound uneducated but could be educated, thus stripping them of the opportunity to learn and possibly change? Especially Roisin who has helped many queer people with her music and included them in it.

Yeah, that solves the problem! Conservatives must love it because they can stay in their closed minded bubble. That’s the polarization problem of our times. It’s not all black and white.

oh my god stop being obtuse on purpose, she literally said in her own words that her beliefs are "fixed", she is not interested in learning or educating herself. she doesn't care! and neither do most transphobes. most people's opinion, who aren't in the community or an ally, is like "they should do what they want, idc!". most transphobes KNOW the facts, they know better but chose not to act on that. they don't want to learn, they are hateful despite the facts. met to mention that most of the transphobia that exists today, especially in the US and UK is just circus noise and propaganda do divert attention from actual issues that affect people.

you sound so centrist right now, its baffling.

This may apply to politicians but I don't think ordinary people have elections in mind. If you go outside (emphasis on outside, meaning not the internet) you'll find left-leaning people who may not support anything queer rights-related and vice versa.

It's a wedge issue those alt-right agents use to create and mantain division amongst the classes and consolidate power for themselves. Regular people who are not so educated on these topics are prone to give in to the fear mongering and disinformation (which is basically where Roisin falls into). It's not that there can't be questions asked and a discussion on it, rather they create fear where there is not for their own gain, shutting down any potential learnings by putting that fear at the front.

I agree 100%.

This thread disgusts me x.

Instead of allowing a conversation to happen all I see.mp3 is people dogpiling on Roisin for sharing her point of view. Not any different than fascism :sorry: I stand by her sharing her opinion 100% and I will stream the hell out of her new album :sorry:

The black and white way of seeing things in 2023 :rip: my God.

Apparently DJ Sindri (Róisín's collaborator and friend, a queer man) has said on Instagram and Facebook that he has reached out to her and had a couple lengthy phone calls in regards with this topic. So at least she is willing to listen to a different perspective and does have people around her to inform

The way y’all keep saying this nonsense and then never actually respond to our factual rebuttals of your cherry-picked arguments :deadbanana4:

Like one of your TERFy friends cited a pay-walled journal article (which they 100% did not read) supposedly upholding their argument of banning gender-affirming care for children, and then when I actually accessed the article and provided their findings it said the exact opposite. And then not a peep from that member since. Could it be that there IS no actual argument or ~conversation~ here from y’all, and you are entirely relying on your uncomfortable feelings about trans children existing?

Great to know! She does not dismiss the conversation like others in this thread...
The queer scene legend Roisin can learn. Direct your energy at people who are loudly transphobic and homophobic. There are a lot of those for sure

Exactemente. Pulling a woman’s entire career out from under her overnight because she shared a dumb opinion on her personal Facebook account. Grass is begging to be touched, the flora is begging to be fingered.

How so?

Literally putting what's left of her career in the ground just because she dared to raise a concern that clearly didn't come from a place of hate? She can be better informed and move on with everyone's lives but instead y'all put all your effort on attacking her and calling her all sorts of names just because she doesn't fully agree with you :rip: Not any different than fascism.

WHO is calling her names? WHO is attacking her? literally all I see in this thread is disappointment and a discussion, albeit a heated one. literally making stuff up to support your centrist bullshit I am so ******* tired of you ******* who don't realize that trans lives are on the line.

Girl, open your eyes, Read her "apology". After that, if you are not capable to understand just think why she is being praised by TERFS all over Twitter while her queer fans are dissapointed
