I agree! (This is a little off topic) But the recent praise for that Addison Rae girl just for releasing a mid record and posting a screenshot of her listening to Arca and Sophie is crazy to me :skull:

The standards for what's considered a "gay icon" nowadays are so low, it's pathetic...

Now, now! No strays will be caught by the I Got It Bad chanteuse. Stick to dragging Irish granny.

Why is it that the call is always coming from inside the house…

If it was some random artist it would be whatever, but she literally built her career off the backs of the queer/trans community.

To say I’m dissapointed is an understatement. And no, we won’t be streaming Hit Parade (unfortunately).

You can stream guilt free now since apparently ninja tune is donating proceeds to pro trans charities :lakitu:

I don't know what that has to do in this context? Like smart in a way that she wouldnt do anything to ruin her image?

Try asking Jessie what she would do if one of her kids wanted puberty blockers....

Do any of ya'll have kids? I don't but I can imagine it would be a very very very touchy subject for a parent.

that's why she won't talk about it. facing hard themes like this is when you need to keep it to yourself and mind your business.

Why are people who are not trans so obsessed with this topic? It’s so weird how much time and energy they invest in people they barely know. Mind your own life for once.

You don't need to be trans to show empathy...

Right. All this manufactured hysteria boils down to people not being able to mind their business about other people's healthcare decisions and needs.

One can only hope Murphy is just terribly misinformed, but saying "Big pharma laughing all the way to the bank" is way too deep in the transphobic rabbit hole and also very dehumanizing towards trans people.

This only proves that the real "allies-supporters" even between female popstars-singers with a mainly LGBTQ+ fanbase and collaborators are really rare in reality, lot of people even in that field are just opportunistic in riding the wave of this community also in order to appear supportive just for convenience but in fact they don't care or not understand what it means being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I'm pretty sure there are other Roisin Murphy out there, they're just more "clever" in hiding it, it has happened also with a showgirl-singer from my country that for years was considered a gay icon who performed at gay clubs and events with the LGBTQ+ community supporting her even when her career was in a deadlock period, only for her to comes out in the last years as catholic fascist against gay marriage and adoption, it's more common than what we thought.

This is what I've been noticing since it seems to still be so easy to whip large groups of the public into an anti-gay panic about "schools turning your kids gay and making them cut off their parts!" It's not only a lack of understanding about our experiences or basic humanity, but also a willingness to attack and marginalize us when our visibility increases past a point that they consider "acceptable." Always complaining about gay or trans people showing up on Netflix or in a movie, as if we didn't exist at all and/or must always be relegated to fringe adult content. It's really bizarre and scary.

@Sugden The only coverage I've seen of this so far :coffee2: Sidebar, their framing is so transparent and pathetic....but no surprise there...
