SECTION 1. ERA PREFACE.

The singles chosen most accurately reflect the cinematic grandeur narrative of this era. Consequently, the album title directly relates to the circumstances of the main character in this cinematic experience that will be an undeniable cultural reset. The album cover complements the title as ROSALÍA in this album radiates with intentional mystery and metamorphosizes into a cultural legend.

 

SECTION 2. ERA NARRATIVE.

 

"CODENAME: MARIPOSA" is a reincarnation of ROSALÍA's critical and commercial smash third studio album. This reincarnation reimagines ROSALÍA as top international spy MARIPOSA, who goes undercover as the real-life critically and commercially loved worldwide sensation ROSALÍA. The much anticipated album details MARIPOSA's evolving introspections about balancing fame as ROSALÍA and affirming her identity while staying true to her mission as a spy: take down the huge imprint of capitalism on the music industry. 

 

ACT I: The Pressures of Fame

"LA FAMA (Live en el Palau Sant Jordi)"

The lead single introduces MARIPOSA getting consumed by the massive fame of real-life ROSALÍA. The melancholic live delivery of the song amidst the ocean of singing fans implies MARIPOSA getting trapped in a cocoon of guilt for deceiving such innocent fans. While lamenting, she lets her guard down for the first time and sings her heart out in Palau Sant Jordi. 

 

ACT II: Meditating in Mallorca

"DESPECHÁ"

The follow-up single details MARIPOSA reassessing her true undercover goals while vacationing in ROSALÍA's home country. The accompanying music video paints MARIPOSA getting a break from the overwhelming fame. This break allows her to finally shed all the guilt and doubt she initially felt about her mission. 

 

ACT III: MARIPOSA

"SAOKO"

The final single proclaims MARIPOSA's devotion to her true goal as a spy. The confident lyrics symbolizes her reclamation of her power as a top international spy and embrace of the huge changes brought by posing as ROSALÍA. Finally, MARIPOSA is reborn and ready to take the oppressive perpetuating system down.

ROSALÍA's upcoming worldwide tour "Diario de la Steel Mariposa" for the "CODENAME: MARIPOSA" era will bring the international superstar to all seven continents. Initial draft of the stages for each continental concert are as follows:

SECTION 5. ERA ROLLOUT.

I. ALBUM RELEASE

On the last week of 2023, ROSALÍA will revolutionize album rollouts. Instead of a surprise drop or social media blackout, she will be reportedly kidnapped from her Barcelona music studio. The staged kidnapping will be broadcasted in all major television networks and social media platforms. To anticipate the outcry from the potential optics of glamorizing kidnapping, there will be a disclaimer before the broadcast that the event is staged. Nothing will be heard from ROSALÍA until the morning of December 31, 2023.

 

On the morning of New Year's Eve, a 20-feet eigengrau-colored cocoon will be installed in front of her music studio. Fans will be advised in social media to flock the installation. Once the clock hits 12 AM, 2024 January 1, the cocoon will open into ROSALÍA all glammed in butterfly couture (see below) and ready to perform live the full track list of "CODENAME: MARIPOSA". 

 

 

The music studio will transform into an elevated stage inspired by Rihanna's Superbowl stage. 

 

As she performs, "CODENAME: MARIPOSA" will be released in all streaming platforms and the first single will be released, as well. 

 

II. OTHER PROMOTIONAL STUNTS

ROSALÍA aims to complete the PEGGOT (Peabody-Emmy's-Golden Globes-Grammys-Oscars-Tony) this era. In no particular order, to work towards this aim she will:

• Donate all proceeds from the era (including from merch seen next at the next part) to humanitarian causes;
• Produce a film (directed by Greta Gerwig) of her worldwide tour; 
• Produce a fully Spanish-spoken Broadway show (starring Rachel Zegler as ROSALÍA/MARIPOSA) of the album narrative discussed above; and,
• Guest show in her real-life boyfriend's series The Bear season 3 as Spanish tourist Mariposa. 
   

ROSALÍA will also co-head 2024's MET Gala. She will be the one tasked to choose the theme. Her top theme at the moment is "Metamorphosizing at MET".

My favorite part about this entry are single choices. Men in This Town is a bop that is so different from She Wolf it would show this album's versatility. The same goes for Spy. I liked the explanation more than the title itself because in theory it makes total sense but as a title it feels clunky to me.

There is so much going there, it's visible that you had a lot of fun doing this! Let's start from the beginning  - I really like that you chose Mariposa which already appears in the album making it cohesive but you also went beyond and constructed a whole narrative around it. The cover art. The butterfly motive throughout the whole era - iconic. The singlet in merch - pleaseee I need this this is so cunty and hot. ANTARCTICA LEG  Single choices are also on point, LA FAMA really works as a lead.

I like that you went with Rated R and made it darker and more focused on deeper feelings. Original is more cunty so you made a interesting tone shift - that's why I wish the cover was more vulnerable to make it even more distinct than the original. Other than that I like everything about this entry.

THE  NOVEL...  Very good era choice - this one NEEDS revamping. Single choices are pretty much perfect, especially the lead. The visuals are serving too. I love the cohesive singles design. You showed that you know what makes Tinashe so good - the perfect blend of alternative with superstar power. I think I know who's getting my perfect score

This is very unexpected and interesting choice of an era but it works! Your Honesty SHOULD've been the single so I really like you went with this. But my favorite part about this entry is how much and what you've written about it - it shows that you are really passionate about Madonna and that era and there's so many ideas there. - I enjoyed your redo of that particular era. The single choices are much better, I like the name of the album and I like that your essay backs everything up in a smooth yet understandable fashion. Great job!

- I also enjoyed yours. Your writing was simple and to the point. I love the Super C idea and I like all the single choices here too.

- I feel like you could have written a bit less. I appreciate you putting so much here but it felt like a chore to get through and I shouldn't have to feel like that when judging entries. The music videos concepts are fine and what not, but your bloated essay will knock your score down a bit. Please work on keeping it on the shorter end next time while still getting your point across.

- I think your concept is fine. Everything about the essay is great and while I definitely don't like the songs, the vision is there and you explained it thoroughly. The rollout for the album is where you lose a couple points though. Under NO circumstances could ANY person stage a kidnapping and expect to get good public reception from it. It's bad enough when regular people do that and it wouldn't be ok for Taylor Swift to do that and it wouldn't be ok for ROSALIA to do that either. That's asking to get cancelled and underperform. There are people out there who are actually missing and actually getting kidnapped who need that media attention.

Ciara - look I dont listen to enough ciara to judge the era. But I love this. The songs you choose two are great and could totally see this working at an era. 

 

Kelly Clarkson: OMG haunted and sober. You definitely picked amazing here.  it was definitely her best and most underrated work yet. I'm glad you brought it back to life and wish she actually did dropped haunted as a single from this album.

 

FKA Twigs: I love the deep detail describing the music videos  honestly good work.

 

Madonna: I love that you chose a Remix album for round. Really thinking outta the box. I love all the detail you put in fir each song too  dedication 

 

Tinashe: wow I love the graphics for this. And I do love the song choices. Cute   

 

Rihanna:  yess riri emo dark era I love this and love that fire bomb is in. It definitely weird that she never dropped it as a single. Felt it would of been better than te amo & rockstar 101 (great tracks) but fire bomb was made to be a hit.  And the last song is an interesting choice too. I can see that being the finish single with a music video of her pretty much on tour like the cheers video.
