Imagine genuinely thinking Britney's autotuned mess is better than Taylor's discography :rip:

Let’s be honest, Britney has more iconic songs.

Here we go again with the "iconic" BS. That's not even the point of the thread, stay on topic :coffee2:

Taylor. easy. Britney has the more “eventful” Pop discography though I’ll give her that.

Baby girl, this is why we said you're setting Taylor up by comparing her to an artist with a completely different appeal.

As a fan of Taylor, I think her craftsmanship as a songwriter since being a teenager will always be impressive. She is objectively extremely talented as a songwriter. But does Fifteen being solo written mean it's inherently a better song than Toxic or Piece Of Me or Slave or Gimme More because they're written by teams of writers and not Britney?

No one cares that Britney doesn't write her music or isn't a technically skilled singer (something Taylor largely wasn't either for the majority of her career and is still not something she can say she outshines others in her field for). Her music is made by some of the most talented people in the world, many of which Taylor herself would cite as helping to bring her career to a new level with 1989.

This is why it is a SET UP because the typical knee jerk defenses to try and shut down other opinions won't work when the artists are completely different. "Britney doesn't write her music!!! How could it be better??". Does "Tim McGraw" make me want to slam my ***** onto the dance floor the same way that "Hot As Ice" does? No!!! :siptea:

Let alone the sociopathy needed to want to dunk on someone as harmless as Britney Spears.

It baffles me you could open a thread asking a question and immediately get upset because people are not answering as you wanted.

Britney could do 'Tis The Damn Season but Taylor couldn't do Touch Of My Hand. :giraffe:

But a Taylor cover of I Got That Boom Boom would lowkey be so camp and kunty :jonny6:

Anyone over 15 who genuinely thinks Taylor's writing is some deep, meaningful, pioneering work of art is seriously deluded. Her writing style is not deep. Her writing style is obvious and easily digestible. She's literally a pop artist, she just happens to write the music herself. She managed to take the best bits of country, which is making witty lyrics for stupid people to relate to and entertain, and converted it to pop to appeal to masses. THAT'S impressive. Her lyrical output itself? No ma'am, you're not gonna sit here and tell me you genuinely think Taylor Swift is some elevated, quality writer when in reality she makes songs that even little children can understand. While her double entendres and metaphores may seem to elevate her discography, it's literally an illusion to make you feel good for having finished elementary school. She's not Jewis fckn Carrol. She's not Sylvia Plath either! She doesn't make lyrics that require even a second thought. Her output is extremely obvious, similarly themed throughout and honestly? Simple. Simple isn't bad, but to sit there and act like she's some elevated beast of a writer I mean what a joke. Quality? Quality image control I'll give her that.
