I think the release of TIC really halted LAP, LAV & TB’s sales. I def think LAV would have been the first certified Diamond too had TIC wasn’t released but overall it was definitely the smarter decision seeing how much that compilation sold.

Queen mother Madonna paved the way for this. I don't think people realize how rare it was for a popular female artist to be able to compete at the level of her popular male peers prior to 1984. Madonna changed that.

it was actually The Bodyguard soundtrack in November 1993, then Whitney's debut the following year. I think like someone said TIC kept her 80s albums from earning much more sales since it came out so early cause LAV didnt go diamond until after the trinity all did and TB is still (stupidly) at 7x. that and they refused to update her stats.
