I decided it find god and organize prayer circles for 1989 (stolen version) levels of promo.

The original album cover outtakes is giving early 20 y/o trying to look cute for the camera but hating how you look in every photo of yourself so you keep taking more photos even though none of them turn out the way you want until you grow older and realize that you actually looked good and that the photos were fine. The TV cover is giving 30 something y/o not trying to look cute anymore, letting loose, and not giving a damn. My millennials know what I'm talking about.

the TV cover looks like a great marriage of the seagulls + her chic look from that era.

I sorta doubt she’d surprise-release a bunch of bonus tracks again mainly because I don’t see why she would have any reason to withhold them from us and not include them on the main album.

 

That being said, it would be genius if she released 4 variants of the vinyl (one to match each CD), each of which have one or two bonus vault tracks. Those would sell out within seconds.

each vault track is gonna have at least 9M streams on the first day I don’t think she’d want to lose that many streams specially when she could’ve done it with the midnights vinyls

After having some time to sit with it, the cover has grown on me a lot. It’ll never top the OG since it’s personally one of my favorite album covers, but I think it’s a great re-imagination/update of the original. The colors are on point, it looks nostalgic and warm but also sleek. I will say that the graphic design could’ve been a little bit better - I like the border but the text placement looks soooorta off. I’m not sure where else it could’ve been placed though, and I totally understand why it’s ‘needs’ the title, so it’s whatever.

 

Anyway, I’m excited to see the alternate covers. I see sand in one or two of them

i don’t hate Taylor at all though lol, but that cover is objectively weird and not good. I’m sure there are several posts throughout this thread from Swifties saying the same thing

 

Anyway 1989 has some of her best pop songs so I will be checking out the vault tracks for this one
