girls I’m sorry I’m late to the party of this but is there a ******* electric guitar buried in the background of This Love and also how did I never notice it in nine years of the original version and one of the TV???? and I love how much clearer it is in the rerecording and now it’s my favorite part of the song?

TL has been my favorite for years for that very reason, its just perfect.

I'm also having a moment with Dress and Dear Reader lately. Yes I know, unrelated, but wow, those are 2 damn good songs and they keep getting better for me. Especially Dear Reader, I feel is underrated, its in my Midnights top10, but then I'm weird like that, Glitch is my #3

I wish she had a song dragging the one direction fan girls (who all now post on r/Fauxmoi) for their misogyny and abhorrent treatment of her during 2012-2014. She dragged the media with blank space, but the media **** shamed her so hard during that time because those crazy one d stans were waging war against her just because she stole their precious Harry and the Media saw a market and used it to its advantage. I still remember when she first came on the teen choice awards in 2014 to present an award and kick start the 1989 era (after being Mia for months at the time) and me being scarred people would boo her. She was the butt of every joke during that time and the main instigators got off without any consequences.

It first kicks in at 2:14 right as the second chorus starts!

That's another thing I love about this album.....it's timeless.  She didn't try to jump on any trends at the time or rely on sounds that would "fit in".  It's Pop and mainstream, but there's a certain quality to it that feels so timeless.

Sort of on this topic… people have always dragged the album for being marketed as “80s” because it doesn’t sound 80s, but I think that’s what made it work so well. It’s not a straight up cosplay of that era, and instead blends some sounds and song structures from that time period with a modern sound. That made it more unique than if it just sounded like it was directly clipped out of an album from the actual year of 1989, and gives it that timeless quality.

Interestingly, the vault tracks do take a more unabashed 80s approach sonically, which is nice to hear as an extension on the original album. And Jack’s work on the original album always had the most direct 80s sound of all the songs on there, so it checks out that these new tracks are so faithful to that time period sound-wise.

Okay, so I will eat all the words I’ve spoken on the first day of release. I have been listening to this album non stop. And bullying your ear works.

Style and New Romantics are fireeee!!!!:jonny:

And the vault tracks are glorious. Suburban Legends and NTWDT are 10/10’s

Same lol. I forced myself to listen to Style and deleted the old one on my Spotify. Now I don’t remember what the stolen version sounds like. The opening guitar of the TV doesn’t bother me anymore :clap3::ryan3:

The world forgot how misogynist/sexist/racist/homophobic those little demons were :gaycatx: some people just don't get it… I was fighting directioners like it was a full time job :gaycatx:

After several listens I can honestly say she killed this one. I really don’t mind the changes in Style and New Romantics (which are the most common complaints) while other songs like Bad Blood, AYHTDWS, WTNY have a huge upgrade. The only let down are the vault tracks which don’t capture the vibe of 1989 TV and feel like Midnights (From The Vault).

I think I’d place this as her second most successful re-recording after Fearless (which was a huge improvement). RED TV had some botched moments but the FTV tracks are the best. Speak Now is the only TV which so far has been a let-down. Despite loving the original, I have barely revisited the TV sadly.
