Do you genuinely believe the production and mixing on these 1989 re-recordings are good?

HDD said 1.5M.... And that has absolutely nothing to do with what anyone on twitter was saying

In terms of production, maybe something can be done for the mixing on different platforms? It seems like Apple Music with Dolby Atmos sounds different from Apple Music alone, which sounds different from Spotify, which sounds different from Spotify with normalization enabled - maybe tweaks could be made for those where people are experiencing the most issues. I feel bad that there are people who legitimately can’t enjoy parts of the album because I can’t hear any of this, just that one click in SIO in one ear if I turn it up really loud. I love the production and think it sounds fuller, more complex, and more three dimensional than the original album, but I’m also not hearing any of the reported issues and if I were I might not feel the same.

I don't get why at this point She didn't let antonoff to make all the tracks?.

I can understand makes not sense to have him making fearless or speak now but when the vault tracks here are a project with him and they feel like a way to give a new colour to the album She should have let Jack to makw all the album, same with reputation (there Is already a most antonoff album).

no nobody likes it, the second highest streaming day for any album is innacurate, you and the 10 same people that don't like it are the only correct ones, we all apologize and will hide in shame for daring to like it

Someone can genuinely not being an expert.

These new versiones are full of mixing problems, especially on the vocals side.

Exactly. Antonoff at least is a pop producer and would probably do a pretty capable mixing job. That other guy butchered it and Idk how they listened to these final takes and thought "yeah it's good let's release it". The fans deserve better than this.

Then in some cases i like the fact the songs are less clean and not that perfect and they sound different. somethimes too much perfection can feel fake.

But It's what It Is

So one of them (billboard or HDD) is clearly lying. Well billboard is official.

Well of course he is. Artistic choices about production apart someone can have he's excellent at mixing. Vault tracks have not problems

Billboard could still just not be reporting presale units, for whatever reason they might choose. That’s the most likely scenario here. There’s like a 0% chance their first day number of 250k includes preorders.

IMO there’s no chance at all that HDD was wrong - if there’s an issue, it’s that her web store hasn’t reported to Luminate or Billboard is auditing/validating the presale numbers.

And checking the user’s posts history for last few days, I’m not surprised.

Again (i can't believe i have to say this), streaming numbers or even sales numbers are NOT indicative that something is good. Ofc 1989 TV got huge first streaming numbers, everyone's going to check it out cuz it's an iconic Taylor Swift album. Some of these re-recordings (especially album tracks) are probably going to hold up well and maybe even "replace" the originals in the long run but that's only because a large part of her fanbase is loyal enough to her to the point where they can listen to worse music just bc they think they're making her happier. How can you seriously compare these to the original (mostly) impeccably produced tracks and not notice the obvious difference? I'm sounding like a Max Martin stan here lol but i'm not, i just like listening to things that sound good.

Yeah filtering sales is one of the options that makes the most sense

It's not like you are providing any more evidence in favor of your opinion, outside of empathically stating that you are correct and others are not

His career as a mixer and sound engineer goes back to the late 90’s and he worked at some point on “remixing” during her debut era. He’s primarily a country person, which probably explains some of the quirks some people hear in his pop productions for her. My guess is that she found him through knowing his name from his work with the Dixie Chicks or whatever he remixed for her in 2006 and decided that he was a reliable producer for the rerecordings because he’s not particularly prolific or in exceptionally high demand, is very familiar with (and clearly quite good with) country production and mixing, and isn’t connected to Big Machine. Maybe above all else, he is willing to work with her where, at the time of the start of the project, some other country producers even outside Big Machine may have been apprehensive about it. Country radio still largely shuns her, after all, and I think the idea that her shift into pop was a kind of betrayal runs deep in that community.

Yeah 250k including preorders makes absolutely no sense.
