Imagine if She is trying to delay some of the shipments so the second week drop doesn't look big. :bibliahh:

I saw on Reddit that there is a competition in France where you can win a signed 1989 TV vinyl (up to 10 winners)

That means she must have signed copies of 1989 TV sitting around in some warehouse. Maybe that is also being saved for the second week sales and will sell them soon in her store?

wait what are the meltdowns behind the Billboard article? that the album is underperforming and they’re scared to put that out?

It's that Billboard reported 550k units in 3 days. That seems extremely low compared to the estimated pre-orders (and compared to HDD's prediction). But usually, pre-orders are included in their first day report. So we don't know if the album is going to sell significantly less than what HDD predicted or if Billboard simply didn't count all the pre-orders. That's it.

It's wild to me that the song is performing so well. Don't get me wrong, I love the song but I would have never expected to see it perform as well.

got it, thanks. I used to be into charts but kind of became lazy to keep up when streaming became the legit metric it is today

To be fair, both scenarios (counting or not counting the pre-orders) are really wild:

- if they didn't count them, that would mean 1989 TV would perform similarly to Speak Now TV, which seems really odd tbh considering the streams are so much higher.

- if they didn't count them, that would mean 1989 TV is probably going to get closer to 2M units than 1.5M.

My guess is that they only partially counted them, but that's all it is, a guess.

Assuming those 550K units are on top of the alleged 900K-1M preorders… unless there’s a shot to hit the 2M mark first week, I wouldn’t mind them holding back some shipments for the second week. As long as it beat Midnights they could soften the drop that way :michael:

I don’t think that’s what they’re doing though. They’ve never done it before lol

Yeah twitter swifties overestimated pre-orders numbers. Billboard reported 250k 1st day sales (which usually includes pre-orders). 800k is fine.

True. 800k is nothing to scoff at. I just hoped it would manage to beat the 1.29M sales of the OG version.

Still very impressive though for a re-recording. :clap3:

from what I gather it seems more likely that it’s the second scenario right?

but in any case I hope they won’t hold back shipments for the second week (if they’re allowed to do that) because she’s definitely going to get dragged

I'm more tempted to believe the second scenario too, purely based on HDD's prediction.

For the delayed shipments, I don't know if they're allowed to do it, but it would honestly be really funny. With the alleged pre-orders (north of 1M), she could probably slow ship them for enough time to rack up nearly 20 weeks at #1. :dies:

From all accounts, the orders are getting shipped this week. Maybe, the reporting is slow?

Alternatively, shipping has been terrible in the USA so her team might have been forced to spread out them due issues with the mailing company.

MTE. I mean the second verse & pre-chorus are lowkey her career highlight but the song itself is just great. (I mean she has so many great songs and they don't become a smash)

Obviously Harry drama doing wonders rn but still it's really impressive
