Do this count this sound of NTWDT yet?

A cute trend. This one will serve dark horse.

I only count official sounds from Taylor

Less than an 8 is Pitchfork exposing their own inability to stay in touch. 1989 started the new wave of poptimism, influenced other albums to pursue similar sounds, and is going to reach a combined 40 million units across its two versions within a couple years. It’s one of the most significant pop records of all time, and that’s entirely because of its quality and how Taylor had the pulse of pop culture and knew exactly what move to make following Red’s AOTY loss. The album that redefined her as the greatest global superstar of our time, the album that made her the first woman to win AOTY twice - their score being lower than it should be isn’t all that important in the end.

was kendrick so expensive that she couldn't afford any vault features?

i suppose hayley, patrick, maren, keith, phoebe, and chris might not be overly pricy.

it's the other way around honey, those artists would have to PAY to get a feature with Taylor :coffee:

Nawt P4k kinda pointing exactly what I thought about 1989 TV as a whole..

This is how you view 1989 TV : Taylor had to market this album as her "solo era" "carefree" album because of media scrutiny when it's really about her breakup with Harry...with added tracks it gives more context overall and clear view about what it really was... and that's why 1989 TV is amazing because none of her previous TVs didn't do this kind of thing

Yes I think this vault adds the most to the lore out of all of them. Red TV vault definitely did too but this one is like every single vault song ddd. Speak Now TV and Fearless TV only had one really juicy song each (Castles Crumbling and Mr. Perfectly Fine).

“Say Don’t Go,” the best new addition to the record, shimmers with tension. Where much of 1989 wears its ’80s influence loosely, if at all, the patient verses of “Say Don’t Go” seem like a shot at the glowing slow builds of Phil Collins, to whom Swift would pay tribute a few years later with an exceptional “Can’t Stop Loving You” cover. Its booming chorus is like her take on the grand, percussive hooks of her friends in Haim, but the lyrics bridge the gap between 1989 and Red, almost vicious in their angst.

There's no way she'll release another album this year and definitely not a lowkey one

We know Taylor would love to break Adele's '25' first week sales record. If Taylor gets everything right with the release of the next album, she could do it

I think Taylor knows beating 25's record is just simply impossible.

What could she do to double Midnights/1989 TV's first week? She already did everything you could imagine (a lot of variants), while at the absolute peak of her popularity.

Which of the vault tracks did you want a feature on?

For me, a feature doesn't make sense for any of them. I guess there could have been male backup vocals for Say Don't Go but its perfect as is.

Literally the only thing would be some shady ticket bundle situation that incentivizes people to buy without outright saying it ddd like when the Anti-Hero remixes dropped and people assumed it'd give them a boost

I consider this to be one of those things that’s theoretically possible, but not reasonably possible. Every star in the sky would have to align perfectly for this to happen, and that’s just never going to come to pass. As much as I’d love for her to have every record in the world, I think she’s aware that she can’t break every record. But if any album in music history was ever going to have a chance in hell to do it, it’s her next one.

maybe not beating 25 but a brand new album post-Joe/Travis and Eras Tour will definitely be BIGGER than Midnights. if she plays her cards right it will be astronomical and i could feasibly see something like 2.5m

Yeah I could see a brand new album debuting bigger than Midnights. I think it's within the realm of possibility that she reaches something like 2M units first week, but that's the cap imo.

i didn't personally care too much about adding features, but it is notable that all the other TVs so far had them.

IION will likely get a digital single like ****! during the week + a radio release.

If she releases a new album after wedding announcement, 3M copies on lock :coffee:

I think she wanted to keep 1989 feature-free.

Bad Blood ft/ Kendrick Lamar is the exception to the rule because it was used to get that #1 during its single-run.

Best performing FTV tracks currently:

US: Is It Over Now? -> Now That We Don't Talk -> Say Don't Go -> Slvt

Global: Is It Over Now? -> Slvt -> Say Don't Go -> Now That We Don't Talk

Time to yank it off of DSPs for a week like when Fergie blocked downloads for Glamorous to boost her album sales and the song dropped from 9-33 on the Hot 100. :gaylorcat2:

I dont think Taylor cares enough, she's probably happy letting CS continue its reign as its her fav from Lover. If she was really pushing for a 1989 TV #1 hit, I think we would've gotten a video and radio push for one of the vaults.

The way she and Jack managed to somehow make OOTW even better, the bridge is immaculate. :jonny5:

OOTW, there’s a reason you’ve always been top two on 1989. :clap3:
