Breaking that prediction down a little bit, the 300k-350k SEA might end up being a tiny bit high. But they may also be underestimating retail sales by a decent amount, if those preorder numbers we got were right - I can’t see it debuting lower than 1.4m, but I can see up to 1.75m being possible :gaycat5:

Speak Now did 210K SEA, so 1989 is coming for 300/350k for sure

My vault ranking (for now):

1. Is It Over Now?

2. Now That We Don't Talk

3. "****!"

4. Suburban Legends

5. Say Don't Go

All great tracks tho.

Just have to confirm this album slaps in the car. I thought my dude put on OG Style but it was indeed the TV Style.

Woo!

after a few listens I think most of the songs overall improved or sound similar enough. WTNY, Style and I Know Places were kinda butchered tho and I still don't like them (and the Shake it Off click/pop noise in the 2nd verse). Vault is all a snooze and I also won't listen to those again.

To end on positives tho How You Get the Girl, This Love  and Clean are all improved. I also like how New Romantics sounds like the instrumental is a bit louder and I can actually hear those details. Never liked the OG recording

I have indeed switched like f......

THE TV VERSIONS ARE SLAUGHTERING ME:jonny5:

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAN :jonny5::jonny5:

It's funny because in some corners of the internet, people think this TV is tired, dull, and bad, whereas it's honestly given me a whole new appreciation for the original.

The way I didn’t like a lot of this in first listen and I’ve COMPLETELY switched.

:jonny:

Except the vault tracks all hit immediately on first listen. Exceptional tracks. All of them. She’s such a legend.

Kinda obsessed with NR TV

I was never a huge Style fan if we're being totally honest - probably an overplaying it during the original release window situation - but the TV made it click with me.

I made a new signature to celebrate it smashing, aging like fine wine, and kinda becoming the most iconic 1989 track :gaycat4:

edit: mess it looks off-centered in posts but centered in the editor, lemme make a justified version

Only pop music forums with terminally online gays think that. In the real world, Style is the top streamed song from the album

At least she's guaranteed to pass Elvis with the Taylor's Versions alone

Yep, there's almost no difference between the original and the TV. I just don't understand why people are losing their minds over it :rip:

The Shake It Off clicking noises in the second verse honestly annoys me so much - I cannot tell if they are production mistakes or some percussion elements

The vaults really click with the GP and tik tok. That will help the album have good longevity in 1st few weeks.

Slvt can be a quick lik #1 then they should send Say dont go or It it over now to radio.

Jesus, that gap from #1 to #2 is rough :gaycat6:

That feels like the final major chart achievement she'll get, something like 20 more years from now after many more albums and a round of rerelease special editions or something

the vocal production is a problem in her version. you can hear the different takes. of course, you will get used if you listen to them 50 times

I don’t get the issue with all the complaints. I’m used to the differences already lmao. They’re not BAD, just different. Plus, we’ll always have the OG!!

Vault Rankings:
1. Sl*t = Say Don’t Go = Is it Over Now?

2. Now That we Don’t Talk

3. Suburban Legends

I can’t decide my favourite among the top 3 tbh, they’re all so good.

Suburban Legends has such a good prechorus and chorus but the line about school and 1950 gymnasium ruins the song for me.

its percussion elements but it shouldn't have been so loud :rip:it's like they forgot to lower that in the the mixing or something

I've been listening to style and I love how she sings the "you said what you heard is true" part, her voice sounds SO much better than the OG its so idk smooth

Oh yeah, for sure. Do we think she could potentially beat the all time record for monthly listeners?
