I might be out of the loop why was Max Martin not involved?

Style is one of her best songs ever, but I don't like the new version

Agreed it's a 10/10 for me. The TV is cute but not even close to the OG.

him and 🛴are besties, + he demands writing credits for songs he didn’t help write + he charges like $100k to produce a song

So more sourceless fan rumours cupcakes are citing as facts?

damn that's so disappointing :cries:

Ignore her she drinks. Everything she said came from stan's minds :dies: No one knows why.

It could have been a financial reason, like him taking a bigger % of $ per stream vs other producers.

It could have been an artistic reason, where she found him creatively restrictive, which is entirely reasonable.

Or it could be a combo of a lil bit of both :duck:

Ok I repent Taylord cause Shake It (lesbianism) Off and How You Get The (Lesbian) Girl are huge improvements, goodbye annoying chipmunk vocals :jonny5: I never ever even cared about HYGTG in my life but now it's on repeat all day and I'm BOPPING :deadbanana:

no literally this is me with HYGTG, IWYW, AYHTDWS... like all the deep-cut bops of 1989 have turned into smashes for me cause of how her voice sounds now. my gawdddd :WAP:

while i checked my order they advised me to buy ****. i find it amusing (they did this with cs too) that with the webstore rules, they're just linking to the apple music page for the song

I literally love the entire album, even Style. Definitely the second-best TV after Red. :jonny:

The “Why Did You Do That?” co-writer is right, they need to release this song as the single

She’s right and she should say it.

This is the only album of hers I like but I think I prefer the original. Its the flat sound or something on these. She sounds better vocally on the new ones though.

The transition from Blank Space and Sl*t! is actually perfect. I am so happy Her vocals haven't changed too much since the original release of 1989, it makes curating these personal playlist/track list so much better because you won't get the jarring transitions.

and this will be even easier to accomplish for rep tv when we get a few botched tracks (which I expect).

This is the first vault where all of the songs actually contribute meaningfully to the storytelling of the album (maybe with the exception of Suburban Legends) and aren't just throwaways - I appreciate how cohesive and curated they feel. No skips. Is It Over Now? is probably one of my fav Taylor songs now. I know repetitive meltdowns about "botchings" are a more amusing activity for some, but I'm more interested in actually digging into what these songs reveal about where Taylor was artistically and in her personal life when they were written - there's a lot here if you bother to invest energy beyond screaming "b-bUt JAcK anToNOff!!!!"

On that point, that "the vault sounds like Midnights outtakes" narrative is so lazy tbh. They all sound very much in line with Jack's work on the original album - you're hearing Midnights in them because Jack's midtempo work on 1989 already did it first :dies:

It feels like what people are really saying is "I wish the vault was just gigantic banger after gigantic banger," which is an entirely different argument. It's just amusing how songs suddenly "sound like Midnights" when the whole argument against Midnights when it first came out was... that it sounded like a reductive retread of everything her and Jack had already done together. Which is it? :deadbanana2:

idk if it's because I'm someone who has always heavily consumed remixes and alternate versions of songs for as long as I've been into music but it's always so easy for me to adjust to the new versions :deadbanana2: the vault is vaulting now too:jonny:

I’m not a Ms. Antonoff stan but he will always be responsible for the two albums that turned her career around again so people trying to drag him should remember that!

Seeing her dominate US AM this hard, with 10 of the top 12 and 21 of the top 30, and that’s apparently with the versions uncombined, is astounding :gaycat6:
