Wait aren't the special editions just different colored covers with the word 1989 across them? Or are they going to be actual different photos on the cover?

Different photos. If you pause the video TaylorNation posted on twitter, you can see the corner of each album cover is different

I echo the same feelings about the covers; it's not as 'offensive' as the SNTV cover but 1989TV deserved better. My biggest critique is the text - it looks out of place compared to the other TVs. It's a great photo and I like the bob, but I'd like to see something like the photo she used for This Love TV:

Call me delusional but I think she’s going to pull a 3 am tracks stunt with a he bad blood remix, sweeter than fiction, and more vault tracks

Oh no I missed the mess, consider yourselves lucky I’m too late to give the real album ranking :bird:

Special CDs:

Blue: Sold Out

Pink: Sold Out

Green: 13k copies

Yellow: 15k copies

60k copies stocked for each, so 212k CDs sold so far. +230k with the standard CD.

Also 108k vinyls sold.

So around 340k physicals pre-ordered so far.

Update:

Special CD Blue: Sold Out

Pink: Sold Out

Green: 3k copies left

Yellow: 6k copies left

231k special CDs sold so far. +255k with the standard CD.

Vinyls: 117k

Cassettes: Around 10k

Total pre-orders: Around 380k

I think some people on Twitter are saying +400k because they are counting digital sales. They can't be tracked but you can do estimations based on the ratio of digitals/physicals Midnights or Speak Now TV had.

They need to restock them

@Bonicap do you know how many vinyl they stocked?

Does anyone think once Taylor releases all the TV’s that she would remove the originals from streaming at that point?

Yes, 300k was the initial stock.

I don't think she legally can, since I'm pretty sure Shamrock still has some control over that

Imagine if we get another ali payami song from the vault..

This will be good. It's my favorite album of her

I loved the cover picture but hated that isn't textless like the previous ones :deadbanana4: it would look so cute with all of them following the same pattern. The font is cheap and makes it look like a coverlandia mess but other than that i liked it

Thanks, there is a nice margin, it should be enough for now

All the different editions are sold out on the Canada site :jonny2:

They need to restock so I can pre-order one of them :gaycat:

And even if she could, I don't think she would do it. She said countless times that she didn't think the fans would be so supportive of the re-recordings. That'd be weird to have this discourse now if she ends up removing the original from streaming services.

Definitely enough vinyls, but the bulk of the pre-orders is coming from the special CDs. When all of them are sold out (in a couple hours) the numbers will slow down a lot if they don't re-stock those.

I hit the reaction limit but otherwise I'd have liked your post

This kind of commercial reception is truly unfathomable. We’re looking at her probably hitting 500k preorders in a single day across all channels, with another 150k vinyl and who knows how many standard edition CDs still up for grabs from initial stock alone. This is without a single other retailer in consideration, and without the streaming success that 1989 as a pop release is likely to have. This is almost as brain-breaking as Midnights’ release.

Didn't someone in here say they restocked them some hours ago?

A very small amount, probably from cancelled orders.

Yeah, it's ******* insane. The numbers are ringing hollow because they're so big. This doesn't take into account any pre-orders on iTunes or any potential purchases from Target or Walmart or any other record stores, nor does it consider the insane streaming debut this is gonna have :deadbanana4:
