Style is just the type of perfect song you can't make twice. The breathiness and the little giggle in the second verse are totally gone. Sure they could've gotten a better guitar and a less tinny synth sound, but it was never gonna compare I fear.

Yeah I can see this pulling pretty similar AM numbers to SNTV and slightly higher Spotify numbers, and the pure sales will be astronomical. They honestly might be the reason it’s not outperforming SNTV :gaycat6: along with the fact that she’s no longer actively on tour in the US of course

I disagree

This is almost as good as Midnights.

She has "only" one song in the Top 10 of AM US this time around, but the competition is more tough as well. SN TV and Midnights didn't have to battle two albums by other streaming monsters that usually have the upper hand on Apple Music's audience.

Globally, this is performing excellently too, she has, for example, the entire top 4 in the UK, almost the entire top 10 in the Philippines (only one super viral song is blocking the complete dominance).

Others have pointed this out, too. I underestimated the competition she has right now on streaming platforms versus what she had for SNTV.

Electric Touch is cute but it’s easily the weakest song on Peak Now vault

overall i really appreciate the crispness of the production and how more obviously 80's influenced the entire record is now. of course, there are moments you just can't replicate (style), but overall i think this is a great recreation of such an iconic, towering album. i think the taylor's version leans into and doubles down on the weirdness of the original album, which is its strength imo!

Not someone liking electric touch over these :bibliahh:

Spit out my coffee reading this. Electric (Please don't) Touch (Me) is probably one of her worst songs ever. I get second hand embarrassment just accidentally playing it/not switching songs fast enough.

yeah, no album bombs before midnights release
unholy, bad habits are the biggest songs at that time

Did anyone notice the annoying clicking noises during Shake It Off? They start at 1:10 and go all the way to 1:40. At first I thought my earphones were malfunctioning but then I grabbed my headphones and the noises are still there. It sounds like someone messed up because they don't sound like they belong in the song, and they're so annoying my head literally hurts :rip:

Electric Touch is literally right above ME! in my discography ranking:rip:

And ME! is dead last

Alright, on to the positive: Blank Space was extremely well done. You can tell she spent a lot of energy to get this right.

1989tv vault track being called as MIDnights outtakes
I blame Suburban Legends, sparkly synth and J@ck :monkey:

1989 made me stan Taylor for a bit. It’s one of my favorite pop albums ever. Just listened to TV and here is how I’d compare it to the OG:

Welcome to New York: OG>

Blank Space: OG>>>>>
Style: OG>>>
OOTW: TV>
AYHTDWS: =
Shake it Off: TV>>
I wish you would: =

Bad Blood: TV>

Wildest Dreams: OG>>
HYGTG: almost said TV until the chorus hit. The out of breathe “thats” before “how you get the girl” :deadbanana4:

This Love: =

I Know Places: the autotuned I’s :rip: OG>>>>

Clean: This is my favorite Taylor song ever. OG is better but this was a good effort.

Wonderland: OG>>>. Her enunciations on TV are Halsey-fied and annoying. The OG was fun and had a playful vibe, which they tried to recreate but failed.

You Are In Love: TV>

New Romantics: OG>

She did better with the slower and more emotional songs, but couldn’t recreate the magic of fun playful songs IMO.

Vault track rate:

“****!” : 8/10 (only VT i’ll be using)

Say Don’t Go: 7/10

Now that we don’t talk: 6/10

Suburban Legend: 4/10

Is It Over Now?: 5/10

Just listened to the album in full.

Why do I feel that the vault tracks from 1989 are the weakest of the bunch? Even Fearless vault tracks are better than these. Anyway, that's just my opinion. So far, I would rank the vault tracks by this order : Speak Now > Red > Fearless > 1989 :ducky:

Posted

Red vault tracks >>> Speak Now vault tracks >> 1989 vault tracks >>> Fearless vault tracks

most of the Red TV vault tracks are some of her best songs. Better Man, IBYTAM, ATWTMV, Nothing New all are 10/10 songs :clap3:

I'm pretty sure no other re-recording will ever top the quality of Red TV vaults

After Speak Now and 1989's vault tracks, I think I'm ready to move on from the re-recordings.

These Midnights scraps just aren't touching sacRed's vault I fear

Why the hell are people complaining so much about Style when it sounds almost THE EXACT SAME as the original? When will Swifties stop this endless nitpicking over EVERYTHING? :ace:

They can do BB Remix like this but they botched Style? :gaycatx:

Rearranging this to be my 1989 :katie2:

IION works better as T5, especially in between her sisters. Tell me otherwise :pig: It is also FAR more emotional than AYHTDWS.

Switched some positions cuz i felt they flow better narratively or sonically.

  1. New Romantics
  2. Blank Space
  3. Style
  4. Out Of The Woods
  5. Is It Over Now?
  6. I Wish You Would
  7. I Know Places
  8. Wonderland
  9. Bad Blood (ft. Kendrick Lamar)
  10. Shake It Off
  11. Now That We Don't Talk
  12. Wildest Dreams
  13. This Love
  14. Clean

Debut is going to bring us the best vault tracks. Nearly all of her unreleased studio demos from that era are better than the standard tracks. I just hope she picks the right ones because her taste is so awful.
