HDD’s Hits List update for the morning:

”TAYLOR SWIFT: Another big takeoff for “Version” airways as new 1989 takes flight. Will it soar higher than the 1.6m bow of Midnights?”

Where did that 2PM theory come from? :jonny5:

OT: Bad Blood with Kendrick sounds WAY better than the regular one. I'll be using this one way more.

I don't have any issues with Style. New Romantics on the other hand is all around bad. Don't know what happened with that one.

Now That We Don't Talk is my favorite vault from this one

I haven’t gotten around to listening to this yet as I’ve been playing Alan Wake II which also came out today, but I am nervous to hear Shake It Off, Wonderland and New Romantics.

Don’t hurt me Taylor.

i feel like style sv intro sounds like a modern day, bright and clear guitar riff and style tv sounds like old school, more rock influenced, less pop, darker and a bit muted kinda guitar riff.

or maybe im deluding myself :gaycatx:

Say don't go is the best followed by Slvt!!!! (Stop the slvt! hate, it is a hybrid of mirrorball and false god)

I do like Slvt more than the other three. Probably because of the Patrik production but it doesn't scream 1989 single to me.

She did such a good job on Blank Space and Shake It Off!!

The more I try to listen to Style to try to become accostumed to it, the more I find stuff I don't like and go back to the stolen one, never happened to me

:ryan3:

Why is she falling behind me in the pre-chorus when I try to sing along

vault tracks are cute, better than the speak now ones, but the lyrics are sooo clunky/wordy/pretentious and un-1989'd, girl didnt even try to pretend they were written back then.

My initial reaction to 1989 TV was that it was complete garbage and Taylor needs to be institutionalized for what she did to her magnum opus. Upon my second and third listens, I realized maybe that was a bit dramatic and most of the songs are pretty faithful to the originals.

Re-records that are better than the original:

  • Welcome to New York
  • I Know Places
  • Clean
  • Wonderland

Re-records that are the same as original:

  • Blank Space
  • Out of the Woods
  • AYHTDWS
  • Bad Blood/Bad Blood Remix
  • Wildest Dreams
  • This Love
  • You Are In Love

Re-records that are worse than the original:

  • Style
  • Shake It Off
  • I Wish You Would
  • How You Get the Girl
  • New Romantics
  • Thanks 4

Shake It off production is not bad, the talking- rap part before pre last chorus is somehow even better.

Wonderland Is basically the same.

New romantic Is ok in the verses, the chorus lost all the 80s pet shop boys glamour. It's the worst new version for me.

Now why is this so low on US AM

Neither mirrorball nor false god also scream hit singles!!! I believe right now slvt! is an arts not charts situation?

I can’t get over how massively improved Blank Space and Shake It Off are. The original are garbage in comparison. I’m shocked

Shake It Off TV sounds like it was recorded in the toilet

I was trying to tell everyone this. I could see the writing on the wall with the way Red (TV) played out. ATW was the #1, but the singles [IKYWT and WANEGBT] ended up having the best longevity. 1989 was so singles heavy, even more so than Red. If Taylor’s team pushes a radio single, it needs to be one that’s already been a single.

All the vault tracks are ******* GREAT. Go back to your insects!
