For the production, it's really clear in her making a song videos for rep where Shellback is on the machines while MM isn't .

I think the instrumentals were fine. The vocal production was what was off on the Red TVs but Shellback has been fine on the 1989 tracks so far.

I just wanna say that just cuz u saw him working the machines in a video doesn't 100% confirm him as the majority producer.

Max is the boss, he can still be ordering Shellback around to do the grunt work, & fixing what he doesn't like.

Not Max being this god who somehow prevented Taylor from writing cringe lyrics when she wrote Bad Blood, Gorgeous, Ready For It, How You Get The Girl, Shake It Off... Under his guidance. If anything, Taylor is a better writer with other composers than she is with Max, since by her own admission, he always told her to edit her self and be more succinct. And not people suddenly wanting more Max when they've been calling 1989 generic and soulless in base for years and in this very same thread...

Some of you are so damn fickle and have no taste

which is why all of us should be absolutely terrified about 1989 and REP TVs.

nobody in the business is touching Max Martin's vocal production.

in fact, his vocal production was the glue that held 1989 together.

I still have 1 fear about the 1989 tv vault. I hope and pray that Aaron Dessner isn’t the producer on “Say Don’t Go”. He needs to stay as far away from the pop bible after he botched the Midnights flow with “TGW”, “WCS” & “HI”. Without those, Midnights would’ve been skipless

He made the best songs from that deluxe edition and taylor should really work with him more than Jack again.

she's absolutely not a better writer when there's nobody to rein her in. jack, as great as he is, could never control some of her most ridiculous writing impulses. see midnights.

NO I just check some of Diane Warren’s materials and there is a hit or miss for me. But even those good ones sounds so outdated :rip: Let me pray for that track

My Swiftonoff heart is so ******* happy :smitten:

I’d die for another IWYW/YAIL :wanda:

and nothing for dr puke’s bestie, hopefully it’s the same with puta’s vault, especially since his contribution there is what ruined the album’s overall quality, bless king Jack for saving it…

It’s incredible how controlling that rat is with her and everyone he works with , forcing her to include all their tracks on the final released tracklist, only making his tracks singles, not letting have producer credits and taking undeserved writing ones, I’ve always been a firm believer that AYHTDWS is solo written… anyone that wants to come at me with the melody bs, can keep it…

these fan fictions and theories being taken as fact is taking me out :rip:

yes, Max Martin being expensive and Scott cheap is definitely plausible but let’s be ******* for real here.

there is absolutely NO WAY Taylor and MM only worked on 5 songs, there have to be at least a couple more.

she probably isn’t releasing them because (as it has been reported) she doesn’t want to pay him

idk if i should listen if it leaks, cause there is something special about being awake at 6am and listening with everybody else, usually im all for leaks but idk about this time, maybe it won't leak at all tho

now why would some users in here imply that Max is a better lyricist than Taylor, the hell? did you listen to his works with other artists. his production and ear for catchy hook was amazingly sleek but lyrics was never his strong asset.

You just say anything now, this is giving midnights pre-release daily meltdown.

The girlies are getting a bit heated :sistrens:

Honestly it's time to accept that neither Max nor Taylor are the same songwriters they were in 2014, and even if they work together they're not gonna make another Style again

She could easily re-record them with a different producer and just give him songwriting credits (which she does with all of her producers anyway).

Idk why it would be hard to believe there are only the existing song, when the Red scrap they made together was clearly not a strong song at all.

Also there are 9 Max songs on 1989

I think there is a possibility that there are no other Max songs written for 1989, actually. She mentioned that when working with Max she had to bring more-or-less fully fledged ideas to each session, and as mentioned by others Max is expensive to work with, so I think she would've been pretty strict with what she brought to Max.

On the other hand, she probably had Jack on speed dial in 2013/4, especially when Jack was still starting off in the music industry after rising to fame with We Are Young. They also obviously have had better chemistry than any other producer she worked with at the time.

I am a bit surprised at the lack of Ryan Tedder, funnily enough.

If anything 1989 is her worst album lyrically:mandown:

Nobody said or implied that :rip: she is clearly a far better lyricist.

People are saying some lyrics would simply not exist with Max there.

To its detriment, & to its benefit. It just depends on taste & the type of song.

Max would never allow Anti-Hero's unrelatable bridge to exist, for example :giraffe: Hack is a yes man lyrically, which is probably why she loves him.

This is revisionism of history by Jack and his followers

1989 is Max and Taylor

All hits are Max, Jack is hacking her career
